I got this mosin nagant at a gun show and the man that sold it to me said it was drilled to accept a mount. I did more research and found out it was an ex sniper. It's a izhevsk made in 1942. I would like to kmkn how rare it is and what it's worth. I will send more pics of stamps if needed, just tell me the location.

It’s not really rare at all. Just interesting. They are pretty easy to find in the wild. $300 in that condition, maybe.

So here’s the deal. The soviets had a “designated marksman” program with many, many snipers in it. There were lots of them.

When the war was over many of their rifles were refurbished and during that refurbishment were returned to standard 91/30 configuration and put into storage.

Some people re-scope them. But i think you should enjoy it for what it is.
