I just picked up a 'new' mosin nagant 91/30 and when I got home I noticed the piece on the cocking knob that connects to the guide rod/connector becomes slightly detached when I slide the bolt into battery. If I do not fire and slide the bolt out of battery the cocking knob "clicks" loudly and moves down into place in the guide rod. The "click" occurs when I unlock the bolt and the handle is at 45-90 degrees. If i apply downward pressure on the cocking knob while it is battery I do not get a "click" when I unlock the bolt and open the breech. I took the mosin to my gunsmith and he has never seen the problem before and recommended I turn to the web for suggestions. Have you guys ever seen anything like this? Do I need a new bolt, guide rod, or cocking knob? I'm fairly sure the rifle is safe to shoot, but the dislocated cocking knob makes the action much sloppier and I get increase resistance. Any recommendations/advice?
Also, all of the numbers match, I have not fired the rifle yet, and I disassembled/reassembled the bolt to see if there was a problem there.
Thanks in advance and Happy New Year!!!
