Yesterday I picked up a mosin carbine (don't know what model). I looked down the bore and it looked new. I was told that the bore's on those rifles were chrome lined.

Was this standard practice for the Russian's and others during ww11 or was someone pulling my leg? I've heard of a lot of mosins with rusted/pitted barrels. Maybe some were chrome lined and other's weren't?

Is it actually chrome lined, or is it just blued and it's been cleaned/rearsenaled?

mosins never had chrome lined bores... there are possible known examples of Type53s with chromed bores but the vast majority of them do not

There may have been a good layer of oil in there if it was strikingly shiny. A lot of sellers will coat the bores of their guns with a layer of oil to make them real shiny so people will see that and think its in really good condition when its actually not. Or in this case, it may be total false advertising.
