So about 7 years ago I bought a Westernfield 500 12 gauge. Basically a re-branded Mossberg 500. I was told it had extraction problems but I never had them until a few years ago. I looked at the extractors and filed them. This fixed it for a short time and then started the no extraction.

What happens is either it leaves the spent shell chambered or will slip off half way out. I have put in new extractors and springs. It's not as frequent now but does still do it once or so every 10 rounds.

I've tried different barrels and that didn't do it either. It's lives bedside with me most of the time with an 18.5 inch barrel and is my backup/loaner target gun. I just want it fixed and am stuck/stumped....

I've had similar problems in the past. The problems I had were the chambers were dirty, rough, or very slight rusty. It does not take much for the shell to have something to grab and increase extraction resistance. My simple solution is to take a worn out brass brush and wrap 0000 steel wool around it. Then put the brush and a short section of cleaning rod in a cordless drill and clean the chamber. A little oil on the brush slowly rotating and going in and out and smooth as new. Careful with the cleaning rod, aluminum ones will twist somewhat easily, don't ask how I know. Living in Florida humidity will rust a chamber especially if a shell is left in. During dove season in the past, I carried the above mentioned setup in my trucks toolbox to help several people get back to shooting and not prying the shells out with whatever multi tool or knife they were toting.

I'll try it. I checked the bore and it looked ok. I did swap barrels with my other 500 that has no problems and it still did it. But it's worth a shot. I'll try anything at this point.

Sure have. Winchester, Federal and Fiocchi. Fiocchi are the worst. I've shot duck loads, plinking loads etc. All do it., although not as bad as it used to with new parts and more so after it warms up.
