Tacticool... I recall hearing or reading that the Israeli rifles (Galil?) used to have bottle openers built into the handguard. So the soldier could pop a cap without taking their firing hand off the grip. This has to be the first "modern" application of tacticool as we understand it.
I think the MK23 and the FNP are just tactical. I'd love to have one if I was still in the army, as it is I'll just have to live with the G21. High cap. .45 pistols are great when FMJ is all you have, they should issue one of the three instead of the M9.
And that rifle... I showed my wife and the first thing she said was "Is that a hood ornament on there?" Yes!!! It is!!! This time I noticed the compass. I saw a buttstock in a store recently that has a GPS unit built into the buttstock. A GPS unit! Now THAT is tacticool squared. I could see it having a use, albeit very, very limited. A spotter that had to ditch his gear and lost his buddy or something. Better safe than sorry, no?
If I remember, I'll try to whip something up. I have a bunch of gear still, I'll see if I can put together something really over the top. I like this thread, the comedy is great.
