Hello all,

I have recently purchased a Marlin 60 for plinking. I was just given a tasco 3-9 40mm scope and I want to put it on the Marlin. I have never mounted a scope on a rifle before and would love a little guidance. I don't have the mounting rings yet but I think they need to be 1 inch. Other then that I am lost. If anyone can point me in the right direction that would be great. I am going to try and get it mounted tomorrow and hit the range. Thank guys!

Shawn

try midwayusa.com. they have a chart to tell you how high the rings need to be, based on the size of the objective on your scope. Plus they are excellent people to do business with. hope this helps.

Given the inherent accuracy of that gun (and that bullet), I would not order any special parts from anywhere.

.22 rimfire rifles have a scope rail that's about 1/2 inch (little less maybe?) wide. Wal-Mart, K-Mart, etc. all sell scopes that have the rings already on them that fit great. Tasco, BSA, Simmons all make these scopes in 4x, 4-7x, 4-9x. Any of them will do the trick just fine with that gun. None should cost more that $10 or $15.

I have a REALLY cheap 4x Tasco on my Marlin 60. I've been very satisfied with the combination. I have a 4-9x BSA on my Marlin 880 heavy barrel .22 bolt-action. I've been just as pleased with that one.

Take a look. I bet your gun isn't even drilled for a scope. It just has that rail. Be really careful not to cant it as you tighten the rings. Also, make sure the eye relief is good (scope is the right distance from your eye as you mount the gun).

It'll work just great. You'll love it. If you have any questions, feel free to post again or PM me.
