Here is the sitiuation. My wife and I are moving to Evanston Wyoming. We leave this Wednesday AM. She is returning home after 10 days.I have a lot of guns and reloading stuff. I am leaving most all of my collection here where it will be safe. In a safe.
I am thinking of taking 2 AR'S, and possibly 2 or 3 Glocks for just something to shoot. The thing is, I (we) will be staying in a Motel untill we can find a rental. Anything I take will have to be kept in the vehicle (in cases) or at the storage unit I will be renting. 5X5 for now. I am taking 1 of my Dillon 550's in case I do get into a rental right away. I am packing ammo, spare mags, powder, primers, ect into plastic totes. Movers won't move this stuff anyway.
I will be 800 miles away from this home, and won't be back untill the end of August when we close on the sale of this house.

I am just trying to think of things I might need while there (gun related). Will my guns be safe in a storage unit? They are secured units, such as fence, daytime person on site, alarms systems ect. Maybe they would be safe in the vehicle, but I am leaning more towards the storage unit?

I am open for ideas, and suggestions. I know people have moved with gun collections before, and any help would be appreciated.

I've seen some folks make a storage unit their base of operations for their hobby. Might not be air conditioned or carpeted, but the misses usually doesn't come looking there or even want to hang out while a cold beverage is being enjoyed between breaks.

The storage place will be WAY MORE safe for your precious (and highly sought after) items that a any "safety" a vehicle can provide.

I never even thought about using the storage unit for a loading room. Make me a temp table and off I go. Thanks for the feedback.

Rent a safe deposit box big enough for the Glocks and the AR lowers (minus the stocks and the buffer tubes if necessary).
