This is just fantastic! Worth a few minutes out of your day. :)

History, industrial processes, development of military arms, historical footage galore. What a cool old movie!

Pretty cool to see the movies of WWI artillery, paratroopers in Europe, Pearl Harbor under attack, and so much more. Quite a bit of "scope" to this little film.

Doesn't do much to solve the pronunciation debate on John's name though.:neener:
Never will. It's French Canadian (Québécois? Acadian? Métis? Newfoundland? Brayon? Joual? Chiac?). Widow and children don't agree.

Thanks for the link.

Love this! Thanks for sharing, Sam1911. YouTube is a goldmine full of old movies, music and videos. Anything under the sun! You can while away hours there clicking on the next and next video that tickles your fancy.

For what it is worth, that fellow's channel has an amazing selection of old movies on all sorts of topics, but quite a few of them are shooting, tactics, or military related. Worth a look.

There's one on evaluations of the effectiveness of various shotgun shells which predates "Box of Truth" by decades. Shooting through car doors, testing flechettes, etc.

I never realized his accent was that thick.

Garand was from Quebec (named Jean at birth). Though they speak English up there too.... (well, kind of :neener: ) Garand didn't learn it until his family immigrated to CT.

I played hockey tournaments up there when I was in the navy and we managed to communicate all the essential information... you know, "more beer?" and "no I don't have any smokes" :p

That was great.

However, it was a bit sad that we no longer live in a country where marksmanship is considered a duty of the citizenry, even to the point of government money being used to train the very young.
