How many have multiple guns in the same caliber?
Are they similar in operation, in other words, semi-auto or revolver, etc., or are they dissimilar mechanisms?
For example, I have two lever rifles and same caliber revolvers, one "pair" in .357 and one in .44 Mag.
One .22 bolt action and one semi auto rifle, one .22 semi auto, two .22 semi auto pistols and a .22 revolver.

I don’t even know how many .22’s I have, in lots of different rifle and pistol actions. Break open to toggle lock and lots inbetween.

Have a number of others but not as extensive in variety.

I love my double deuces. The guns aren't exactly inexpensive but the ammo is and they are accurate and fun. And since we buy the gun once and the ammo is an ongoing expense, the ammo cost is something of a factor.
Wish I still had my Ruger Single Six with the pretty pseudo MOP grips. Sadly some orc burglar wanted it more than me. I know it's locking the barn after the horse was stolen, but I have a safe now.

At last count I have 21 .22's (long guns and hand guns).. All types of actions except I don't seem to have a bolt action.
I may have to do something about that.........

I've got some that are different in purpose:

9mm - Glock 17 double stack, full size
9mm - Glock 43 single stack, subcompact

45ACP - Glock 21 double stack, full size
45ACP - Glock 36 single stack, subcompact

I don't see much point in actual duplicate guns.

I have several in the same caliber. Some of the same model of guns. Mostly old military rifles.
Yeah, I was originally thinking of excluding military collections as this would obviously be a lot of guns of the same caliber. I was mostly curious about commercial firearms.

Not sure if I ever mentioned it but I've always sort of coveted a slide action 22 like the old gallery guns. So, one day a guy comes to the pawnshop and says he's got a gun in his car and no case so would I come out and look at it. I picked it up, looked at the left side of the gun and realized it was an '03 Remington slide action. However, rolling it over to look at the right side I realized too that it had no internals. No bolt, nothing. What a deflation from excitement to disappointment.
I survived.

Ok. Commercial. I have a few 30-06’s, 308’s, 30-30’s, 5.56/223’s, 45-70’s, 45’s, 357’s, and 44’s.

I standardized (or at least attempted to) all my chamberings a few years ago to only those which fit 2 or more of my guns.

Out went the .30-40 Krag, 8mm Mauser, 7.7 Jap, 7.65 Carcano, 20ga and a few others.

I sorta accomplished this goal-

10× 9mm
10× .22lr
9× .38/.357
4× .30-06
4× .223
3× 7.62×39
3× .45
3× .30 Carbine
2× .308
2×.380

Ok, I did cheat a little, but these are all commonly available-

1×.30-30
1×.243
1×.32
1×12ga
1x.410

I cheated a bunch on this one, but dang it, I really like the gun-

1×.32-20

G19 x3 (carry, nightstand, truck)
P365 x1

AR15 x3 (one range beater, one HD and one fun self build)

Anything defense related, I like commonality. Same manual of arms is mandatory for me. Same caliber, too, although I’d be just as happy with 10mm, 45ACP as I am 9mm.

mix of other 22 and 12 gauges and a 30-30 - all for miscellaneous hunting. I won’t add other calibers unless I get rid of one...which at this point is the 30-30 in favor of another very common round: 30-06, 308, 270, etc.

.44-40 ; Beretta "Stampede" revolver, a Colt Peacemaker clone, Two Uberti carbines; Winchester 1873 and Colt Burgess 1883.
Colt .45; Uberti Win. 1873 short rifle, Uberti Colt 1873 S. A. A (two; 5.5 inch bbl and 3.5 inch bbl), Uberti Remington 1875 revolver, Uberti Schofield, Ross R92 and Taurus made repro of Colt Lightning pump-action rifle.
.32-20; Uberti Colt S. A. A. And Miroku Winchester 1892 Takedown Rifle.
.357 magnum; S & W 686-6 revolver, 3" bbl, Marlin 1894 "COWBOY" lever action.
.22 LR. ; Uh .... gonna take awhile to count 'em. I know there are three rifles and ? ? ? handguns ....
12 gauge.... 3,
20 gauge; 2.
3 rifles in 7.62 x 51
7 AR-15s in 5.56mm.

I've got two 9mms, one rifle one pistol, no other duplicates.

oopps I lied, I have 4 .22s
One tho, is going to be sold to a friend of mine, it has a canted sight and bugs me, he doesn't care.

They may not be completely alike, but I like having more than one gun in the same caliber. If I am going to stock up on ammo in that caliber then if something happens to one firearm I at least have another that can use the same cartridges.

How many have multiple guns in the same caliber?
I do. In fact, the list of guns I don’t have another of in the same caliber would be shorter than the list of guns I do have another of in the same caliber.
Besides that, my wife is into guns as well. So the chances are, she probably has a gun or two in the same caliber as the ones listed on my “don’t have another of in the same caliber list.” And that’s not even counting shotguns, BB guns and pellet guns.;)

I've got around 12 or 13 .22lr's. Next up is 9mm's with about half that amount. Then .38/.357 and 5.56 have multiples. And of course everybody needs pump and double barrel shotguns in both gauges. Come to think of it, I'm lacking any autoloading shotguns. I might have to do something about that...

I have a bunch of multi guns in the same caliber. But these have the biggest numbers, minus 22lr.

9x19 (18)
40 S&W (6)
5.56 (15)
762x39 (6)

When it comes to effectiveness for either hunting or personal defense most all of the mainstream cartridges will get the job done. A person could pick one cartridge for hunting and one for personal defense and choose different firearms set up differently for different purposes and do it all.

I have multiple 22 rifles. Some for target shooting, some for hunting.

I have multiple rifles in 223/5.56. That includes AR's and bolt guns. The AR's are set up with different sighting systems for different uses including personal defense or target shooting. The bolt guns are target rifles.

When it comes to big game cartridges everything from 26 caliber on up will take every game animal from 50 lb whitetails to 1200 lb bear or moose in North America. And most of them anywhere else in the world. I have 4 bolt guns in 308. None of them are set up for the same use. One has a short 18" barrel for brush hunting, one is set up for long range target shooting, one is a 5 lb mountain rifle for rugged terrain, and another is a general purpose do it all rifle. I could have chosen any of at least a dozen other cartridges and done just as well. Or, I could have bought 4 rifles in 4 different cartridges, but in reality would have gained very little. Having all of them use the same cartridge simplifies reloading and keeping components and factory ammo in stock.

For a handgun I can do everything I need to do with 9mm and 10mm. I have multiple guns in each cartridge. Once again they range from tiny easily concealed guns to full size duty guns.

I can do everything I need to do with those, 22, 308, 9mm, and 10mm using multiple guns in each cartridge. But I do have others, but they are all either semi-retired, collectibles, or just range toys.

I have multiple Marlin and Winchester 30-30's as well as 1911's in 45 ACP. A few Smith&Wesson revolvers in 357 and 44 mag along with my retired 30-06's. I rarely shoot those anymore. They are to be passed down to kids and grandkids one day.

A better question would be: "Who doesn't have multiple guns in the same caliber?"
