Am I the only one that thinks the GSR has a lot of "wow" factor to it? Anyway, I voted "other" because the P7 is one of the coolest guns ever...I'm kinda sad that I sold my PSP, but I HATE that mag release.

[psyopsec]: Go with the Colt, as it looks like they might be discontinued.
[Sergeant Sabre]: The poster of that story also had the next post in that thread. He informed everybody that it was a joke.
Umm...guys? I just called 3 of the largest gun stores in the Los Angeles area, and all 3 confirmed that the Colt rep for the LA area is telling them not to expect any shipments for '05, any shipments are basically a bonus.

In fact, King's Gun Works, probably one of the largest and most respected Colt shops in the U.S., said they haven't had a Colt on their shelves in 6+ months and cannot get Colt to fulfill or commit or even respond to ANY of their orders or inquiries, or even their distributor's orders/inquiries other than, "we're unable to meet our demands at this time due to other committments."

And if you go to Davidson's Gallery Of Guns and do a search on Colt .45 pistols, you'll see a bunch of 0's and "allocated"'s.

So, sorry, guys, that just doesn't bode well with me. I won't take my chances on a 1911 company that can't/won't back their product sales...that directly translates into how they will (or, won't) back their warranty/repairs/custom work.

So what is it going to be pointman? Quit jerkin us around....TELL US AND POST PICTURES! :D

You've got a bunch of hi-tech guns...I've got a bunch myself, but:

What you need is a handful of American Iron...

I'd go for a Colt Python .357 myself, but a 4 lb revolver in .44 or 45 long colt is more fun than ice cream to shoot.

There ain't nothin' like blasting away with a traditional pattern revolver.

Any one of the P7 squeezecockers always gets conversations going and the are some of the ost accurate 9mm's in the world.

Or for the major chicks dig it factor or guyes too.

Get the ominous pimp gun of the ages.

The Star Megastar - it's like a Desert Eagle but built like a tank and with factory hi caps - that's all the made. Sure they have been out of production for years but they are REALLY well built.

Had a Megastar in 45 acp and they also make them in 10mm too.

At 48 ounces, the gun's frame take the fight even out of 10mm but in 45 acp , it's like shooting 9mm.

Can eb found in great shapre for about $425.

Miss mine. Plan to replace it soon.

BTW - our collections are very similar BUT I also have half a dozen Glocks. Gotta have a hammer

Sorry bigjim, I'll know by end of weekend. I go to my "toyz-r-us" tomorrow to fondle a couple one last time, then range to shoot 3 of the top 4 vote getters one last time, then make my buy Sunday/Monday. I've made arrangements to shoot all except the P7M8...still trying to get ahold of a buddy of mine that has a one.

Top votes so far are the Colt, P7M8, GSR, Sig "Sport". Also gonna shoot a Para double-stack again since it doesn't look like I can get an STI-dbl-stk and both CZ and EAA confirmed their comp guns are not CA-approved. Sorry guys, but even though Colt's are top vote getters, I'm concerned.

'course, I could always go DE50 or DE44Mag for ultimate "bling"...

My pick would be one of the WWI or WWII remakes from Colt. After that, one of the new Series 70's, also from Colt. I have one of the P7M8's and the Sig 210 which would be good choices as well. If you are looking to spend the money, go for one of the custom pistols like the afore-mentioned HI-Power, etc. The Valtro (long wait list) and the STI Trojan are possibilities too.

DARN IT!!

I went the range today with the guys and, as usual, we all bring more toys then we have time to shoot. Got to shoot Sig P220 "Sport", Sig GSR, Para LDA Hi-Cap dbl-stk, Para SA Hi-Cap dlb-stk, Colt Gold Cup and even the P7M8, among a host of other goodies.

I was able to narrow the field to the the P220 "Sport" and GSR. I just could not decide...I was thinking I'll probably just buy them both, blow my toy budget for a long time to come and just be done with it.

Then one of the guys started grinning like a cheshire cat and tells me, wait, just try one more. And he pulls out a SA 1911 Trophy Match from his bag. Now he knows I've not had good experiences with SA's over the years and he tells me to just try it...it's different he promises. :cuss:

Long story short...may he forever rot in h3ll. :fire:

Now I have THREE pistols that I'm convinced I can no longer live without. This is gonna be painful. Especially since I went on line and found this SA Black Stainless beauty...whoa!

Here goes...eenie-meenie-minie-moe...

cant help but notice that all of your possibles are autoloaders. think about an old SnW revolver like a mdl 57. very hard to find in pristine condition, or one in good mechanical condition and, shudder, have it refinished. your range buddies would be suitably impressed and so would you. is beutiful and very pleasing to shoot. it would not be a "common" gun that anyone with the bucks could have.

i have the wants for a Smith 500. no one i know has one, but after reading a report in revolvers about a lemon, my want has been dampened. i will end up with one, but.................. i will still have a oneof in my group. will top out the cool factor for a while, then i will be oneupped. one thing about it, you end up with a bunch of nice guns. great, aint it.

good luck with your decision. i understand.

apologies for the double post. and, oops, you made your decision while i was bumped and trying to recover my position. looking at the pic of the Springfield black sends me a message. i would be proud to show up anywhere with that in my bag. my prob there is i already have five .45ACPs, all 1911s, but that does not keep me from "needing" one of these beauties, lord help me. i am a sucker for super nice guns. congrats on your choice. you done good, real good.
