I had been seriously looking for a 20ga Beretta 390 youth model, but refused to pay the $700+ most people were asking for them. If they had been in the condition to warrant the price, I wouldn't have had a problem.

Just when I was about the throw in the towel and have one of the 20's I already had cut down and then buy 24" MC barrel for it, this landed on a local forum:

Italian made 20ga 3901(DOM 2003), 24" barrel, RL synthetic stock, box, manual and a full set of Beretta extended chokes. It has a beat up ejection port because at one point it had a broken extractor and they used screwdriver to dig the empty hulls out, but other than that, it is in remarkable condition for $400.

I ordered the Cole's spring kit for it, cleaned it and headed to the farm. I shot a 100rds of 7/8oz thru it and it functioned perfectly with the "Green" spring but had a few FTE with "Purple" spring.

The guy said his wife complained about the recoil versus her 1100 G3 he had bought her for Christmas, but said she had never mentioned it in the few yrs she had shot it up until the new gun. The daughter put several boxes thru it and hasn't complained once, even when I slipped her a couple of heavy 1 1/4oz turkey loads.

I bought a 3901 this spring for my doughter. It was a trap model with a wood stock and adjustable stck. I paid alot more for mine. Good buy!
