Talking with my family about the latest mass shooting, we focused on the perpetrators father denying that family history or parenting had anything to do with the event, but it was the gun at fault.

My daughter got a very confused look on her face and said what are they even talking about? A gun can't get up and shoot itself she said. Who would actually believe such a thing. If I could tell you how big my smile was at how good I've taught this child. [emoji1]

My 17 year old has said the same thing and I was as proud of her as you are of your daughter.

It is important for us to help our kids develop good reasoning skills and the ability to see the world about them factually instead of making up stories about how things work. The more we, as parents and a society, help our kids understand cause and effect the greater service we are to them.

Kids, generally are mirrors of their upbringing. They generally have the same morals and ethics as their parents or other major role models. Ever notice how folks with obnoxious kids, generally have obnoxious dogs? Comes down to discipline and learned responses. Sounds like Yo Mama is doing something right.

Good parents don't have estranged relationships (going 10yrs with hardly speaking to or seeing their children). Good parents don't raise Satan worshipers and then blame an object for evil actions and poor choices his adult offspring make. How many lives would a simple phone call saying "I miss you son" would have saved?
