I am not that familar with the CMP Garands. Are they the original .30-06 chamberings or the rechambered 7.62 NATO? The pic you sent looks like an original new issue GI rifle. Is the weight in the 9lb. range with steel buttplate?
My Dad would have loved to own one. He was a pilot trained to fly B17s and P38s in the Fifteenth AAC. He flew out of North Africa over Romania and Italy. He was a member of the "Great Generation".
Aside: He once told me about the origin of the phrase, "The whole nine yards". Nine yards was the length of the .50BMG ammo belt utilized by waist gunners onboard B17s.
