image.png Here is a pic of my daughter and her first deer, a really nice nine point buck, which she took at 107 yards with one clean shot from her AR-15 rifle chambered in .450 bushmaster. She shot this fine buck on Saturday, December 2 this year, (2018) during the first shotgun season for deer here in Iowa. We are allowed to use many different straight-walled cartridges for hunting deer, chambered in either rifles or handguns. I was really happy for her.
So this just goes to show you that semi-automatic military-style weapons can be used for legal sporting purposes, and by young women at that!

Thank you for all of the kind and encouraging comments. Her old man took a shot at a big coyote this morning that was lurking around some of our outbuildings but I missed. I will have to see about getting a side mount scope for my AK because my older eyes just aren't cutting those iron sites anymore!
We all need to be sure and encourage young hunters the way you all did this morning because as you know every year the number of folks going out hunting seems to get less and less . So either encourage them with your words or better yet take them out and go with them and teach them the skills necessary and The responsibility that it demands to be going to field with a firearm. Merry Christmas to all!

Maybe you should take lessons from her. Kidding of course. Congrats to your daughter nice looking deer.

Heck of a way to start. Nice deer and pic! :)

That other stuff, eh, it's just a semi auto rifle, chambering in a thumper.
