My debate #2 with an anti-self defense anti.

I find having an intellectual debate with those so deeply religious to often be an exercise in futility. At its core religion requires a person to throw off logic and operate on pure faith. If they believe thats what the scripture says and it is gospel to them, there is no way to disprove that as its not a decision based on reason. Thats how you wind up with things like:
Thats just streaching it a little.... rape isnt murder and your more likely to end a life than save a life with a gun.
Ahhh yes the classic, a raped woman is morally superior to one that killed her attacker.

He is free to make his own decision on firearm ownership but when he tries to restrict my freedoms based on his religious views we have a constitutional problem.

Don't try to argue with religious fanatics, they will not be convinced.

For instance, I asked an avid Christian once, if a soldier in WWII is a sinner as he takes human life. "No, as he is a warrior for God and he is justified in taking human life, like in the Crusades." Then I asked if a Jewish person during WWII who kills a Nazi for trying to send him and his family to a death camp is a sinner. "Yes."

Sorry buddy, a person who mixes religion with statistics and science is blinded.

Maybe it was god who actually did the deed but Moses asked him to so a court of law would say he did it too.

Moses never asked him. God told him what to do. Exodus 14:16:

(God speaking to Moses) "Lift up your staff, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it..."

I'm sorry, but you couldn't be any more wrong on this. I, and many of my Christian brothers and sisters, are very logical people. Pure faith doesn't make you throw out logic, pure faith is trusting in God even when you don't understand whats going on and trusting in Him no matter what happens.

As stated in many other Christian self-defense threads, the Bible says "You shall not MURDER", it doesn't say kill. Also, the question you ask is a very weak argument. You're making an argument that appeals to the person's emotion, while that is powerful to that person, in logical reasoning, it's a weak argument. But then again, I'm not a logical person.
