My dad and I took my 8 year old and 6 year old hunting for deer and turkey. Unfortunately, this is the first time in at least 5 years we haven't seen any deer in the morning. Not even a mule deer doe. Must be some kind of conspiracy. However, the big boy got his third turkey and the first for this year. Here are a few pics.

Here are the two predators when we first woke them up.

After the shot. Can you see the turkey?

There it is.

One happy kid.

A little closer.

Picking it up.

It's almost as big as he is. Probably 20 pounds live weight.

My 6 year old wanted to get in on the action.

Carrying it back to a spot with shorter grass so we can take some more pics.

The predator, his weapon, and his prey.

Hamming it up a little.

That smile is what it's all about.

We are going back in a day or so to let these boys finish filling our freezer with venison.

It's good to see father and son out hunting like that. Nice bird and good luck getting a deer, PA season starts the 26th and I can't wait.

Congrats to all of you.

Nothing beats spending quality time with your children. Even better when you passing on a great heritage.

I remember those days when my dad would wake me up at some ridiculously early hour to go hunting. Great memories.

Nice turkeys, just in time for Thanksgiving.

That's one of the few complaints I have about TN. During archery only deer season, I can take one turkey, either sex, but not even with a bow during ML or gun seasons.

Spring turkey is either bow or shotgun only. I'd much rather use a .22 and just pop his little head.
