Well today I am the proud owner of a stainless steel Ruger Blackhawk in .357 magnum with a 4 5/8" barrel. I had considered buying the 45 caliber model, but I just like the .357 ( I own six .357 mags already) and I'm going to start reloading .357/38 in the next couple of months. I just felt like it made more sense to get one in .357. I also decided to spend the few extra dollars for stainless steel. I'm happy. I've heard many good things about the Blackhawk over the years so I'm confident I won't be disappointed. I know that my GP100 has grown on me.

I've had Blackhawks in .357, .41, and a Super BH .44Mag over the years. Never been dissapointed with any of them, other than crying like a diaper-pin stuck baby when they were stolen....But that is several stories unto their own. Have shot a BH in .30Carbine, too. Verrrry interrresting Blackhawk...a carbine-caliber pistol, instead of a pistol-caliber carbine.

I don't have a Blackhawk right now, but I do have a Sheriff's Model Vaquero [glossy stainless, about a 3-1/2" barrel] in .357 and a 50th year Single-Six.

Blackhawks are cool, but I've found that most shooters have to really have a reason for owning them. Not too many casual Blackhawk owners, in my experience. I've got 2 of them, both in .45 Colt. I bought them so that I could experiment with the many, many possible .45 Colt handloads...without losing my head, of course. I used to own a S&W 25-5 in .45 Colt, but I was afraid of damaging that gun by shooting it too much, or by putting a stiffer load into it than I should have. So, I bought two 5 1/2" Blackhawks, one blue, the other stainless. I don't shoot them as much as most of my other handguns, but I always have a great time when I do, hurling those big .45 lugs downrange. Hope you like yours as much!

My biggest reason for getting the Blackhawk was because I wanted a very strong revolver for .357. I don't plan on blowing up my handgun, but after I become more experienced in reloading I might want to try loading some hot rounds. The Blackhawk seems like the sixshooter for this.

The problem with Ruger Blackhawks is that they multiply in the safe. I started with a .45, and now I have 10. Four are the SS .357 4 5/8" that my wife and I use for CAS.

Can the adjustable sight Blackhawks be used in CAS?

BluesBear where do you shoot CAS? I noticed we're "neighbors" and I've been thinking I'd at least like to go watch.

Back on topic now. I'll confirm the Ruger Single actions reproduce inside the safe.

I have yet to find a Blackhawk or Single Six I didn't want to buy. :p

I have a "made in the 200the year of american Liberty" Blackhawk Convertible .357 mag. It has a 5.5" barrel and an ugly, amatuer-finished-oversized-wood-grip I got for $15 at the local pawn shop. Shoots wonderful. I bought it because I had shot a friend's .357 Blackhawk, and already had 2 9mm Glocks (also require jacketed 9mm bullets) so I had to have one. And I love it. With 124 +Ps, it is evil even as a 9mm. I also have a 10.5" .44 Super BlackHawk, I bought from a guy who had carpal tunnel and coundn't shoot it anymore. He had a Bisley conversion he said he could still shoot, but couldn't shoot the standard SBH anymore. I put a ugly Houge oversized grip on it. I broke my radius last May, but I have shot it a few times since I got my steel plate out, and it gives me no trouble. I aim to take a deer with it next fall.
