I am happy to announce the acquisition of my first center file bolt action rifle.
It is a remington model 721 in .270 winchester in pristine condition. It comes scoped, it also comes with a hard rifle case with room for a scope, 300 rounds of ammunition, 1000 bullets, 1000 brass cases, and the dies, and the bullet mold. I am trading my thompson center arms .54 cal muzzle loading rifle that I paid 200 for, and giving 100 in cash. I know the gentlemen I am buying it from very very well, so I know im getting a good piece of gun. Just wanted to brag cause Its my first real bolt gun. pictures in a day or two.

I meant to put rifle not gun.

The 721 is a good rifle. The marine corps used them for sniper rifles in years gone by (so I am told). The trigger guard is ugly but they are good shooters. I have one in 30-06 that I plan to keep forever. Congrats, Ken

Sounds like a darned good bit of horse trading to me.

Congrats. A good rifle in a classic caliber. The .270 is good for any game in North America.

michakav you said that the .270 is good for any game in North America. Does this include brown bear and moose?

Nice choice for a first rifle!:) A real American Classic. Yes, in well-trained hands and with the correct bullet weights, a .270 will kill anything short of Kodiak and polar bear in N. America. Jack O' Conner shot dang near every speices he hunted (except in Africa, where forbidden by law on some species) with the .270. No higher recommendation is needed. :)
