i blew it. i got outbid. it was on gunbroker.com. someone wanted it more than me. i bid up to $600 but lost it. dang. i really love the way that thing looks too. and new ones are over $1000. but, my budget for my next gun is $600-ish. i guess i'll persue the SAM 7. thanks all.

That was sweet. I'd like to see one up close.

Bobarino, if you're looking for a $600ish O/U, check out Huglu and Verona.

Thanks Wardog. i did check out a Verona semi-auto this weekend at a local gun shop. seemed ok. lightweight, all black, good fit/finish, and it was only $309. i think i might go for one of those instead. i just want a gun for recreational trap shooting. no hunting or competition. i'm not very good at it so an upscale gun is really wasted on me. i just need a decent started gun. thanks for the pointers, i've never heard of Huglu. i'll have to check them out.

If you're looking for a good gun in the $600 range, I'd highly recommend a Winchester SX2. The outdoorworld near me sells the field model (which I have) for ~$620. I've had mine for a little over a year, and it's been great for recreational trap shooting. The recoil is very soft and can be made even softer with a recoil reducer. If you're worried about hitting people with empty shells, I've been told that the T&S shell catcher for the Browning gold works on the SX2 and plan to get one for myself soon.
