My first Single Six

Congrats on the really nice single six. Ruger just doesn't make guns like that anymore. Anyone have an idea what that critter is worth conservatively?

Very nice, OP.

I have a 1958-vintage Single Six but it's got a bit more finish wear on it. It has not and will not be sent to Ruger to be fitted with a transfer bar. It has a very smooth action and nice trigger pull I don't want molested.

I can only imagine the story behind this gun. It doesn't show any mechanical wear but definite holster wear. It makes me wonder if it rode along on a trap line or maybe a youngster was allowed to play cowboy with it or something. Or maybe a previous owner stood in front of his TV and practiced his quick draw skills against the man with no name.
If only these classics could tell their story.

Got her out to the back yard range today finally. I got about 10 cylinders through it before I had a problem.
So I empty that last cylinder into the steel plate and go to eject the empties but the cylinder isn't lined up with the ejector rod. I look down and see that my base pin is completely missing! The retainer is also MIA.!
Now I'm thinking where the he'll am I going to find a replacement?

I look and see my base pin on top of the wet snow about 5 feet in front of my bench. So I recovered that. Then I start looking around in the wet leaves in front of the deck rail A.K.A. my shooting bench. Believe it or not I was able to locate both halves of the retainer and the tiny spring. Must be the shooting god's were in need of a laugh at my expense. So anyway had a hiccup but recovered. Then I decided to call it a day. She's back together now so all ended well.
