I bought a .6.5CM T/C Compass for $249 at CDDN last month. I also ordered 200 Hornady Whitetail ammo at a good deal on memorial day as I have a not so low cost AR-10 6.5CM and my son just built a 6.5CM by rebarreling my worn OLD worn Rem PSS 700 .308 ex LE gun. I got a new Leupold 3.5-10x VX3i for $279 on a killer deal . I bought the MCarbo Compass trigger spring kit for $20 , I splurged a little on the scope rings and am going to try the new Leupold Back Country Medium rings which were $70 from Optic Planet with my discount and bought a
VG6 Precision Gamma 65 Muzzle Device. for the same price $70..
I looked into the Boyds stocks and like the lightweight Varmint one , but waiting on Magpul to come out with something, I really want a chassis type and maybe folding but not yet !
Any way I stripped the gun and checked it all out and am greatly impressed by the lack of defects. I polished the feed ramp slightly with a dremel buff , and I stoned the sear area and the flat sides of it when I installed the trigger kit and yes indeed got a superb 1.5# trigger , leaving a little bit more overtravel for safety sake . The trigger after the kit is remarkably repeatable only varying a once between tries call it 1pound 6 .oz +- . The barrel doesn't touch the stock, the red spacer thing is cool, Ill play with it is adds a little up pressure .
I cleaned the barrel and gave it a little lapping before firing and only fired gun with no sights for 5 rounds to check function and examine brass- looks good ! I will put an older Harris bipod I have on it but will be careful not to load it up as the stock is tweaky .
I am now into the outfit , less ammo , less than $650 including shipping and transfer Fees ect. ! I am amazed ! and of course the proof will be in the pudding. Expect to see pictures in about 3 weeks, I am waiting on the rings, and
VG6 Precision Gamma 65 Muzzle Device
and I have fired 6.5 Creedmore brass ; 192 cases, from the AR10 this summer I will reload. I have a lot of 140 grain Sierra Game Kings from my .264 Win Mags as that was it's favorite bullet. I also have a lot of approprite powder and primers so will busy my self with loading tiered ammo from the Creedmore folks data, funny looks alot like my .22-250Ai Savage heavy bullet data powder weight and type wise.
The purpose of this gun is two fold: I am old enough now at 73 to start using the .243 more for lighter hunting in Calif. , but the deer where I live in Oregon are much bigger but not big enough for my Elk rifles which I shoot sparingly. I want a cheap gun to keep with me in the gun safe under back seat of my truck to keep the Benneli Nova 12ga ,and the Ruger 10-22 Take down company . Right now I have the Weatherby Vanguard .22-250 with a 6-24 scope in there which gets swapped in when going down to Calif. (frequently) where the ARs are personna non grata . It is not a quick twist so it is a varmint gun but with 55 grain Barnes Copper loads can be a legal Calif deer gun. It and the scope get banged around a little too much for me in the truck. I bought a scope Coat for the Leupold VX3i for the Compass and the stock is crappy enough not to matter, it is smaller and lighter than the Weatherby also.
Anyway if I get 1 MOA at 200 yards with a $650 long range claiber game rifle I will be one Happy Camper ! Ill let you know !

Looks like you pieced together a good setup.
It'd be surprising if it doesn't do moa at 200 when you start running handloads.

SOUNDS AWESOME! I HOPE IT SHOOTS WELL FOR YOU!
I REALLY LIKE THE VG6 BRAKES, THEY LOOK GOOD AND WORK WELL.

WHAT ARE WE YELL, sorry. What are you yelling for?:D;)
I didn't know what the heck was the muzzle brake name, just bought the one with best reviews for the 6.5CM, so I cut and pasted it from Optics planet and it affected all my post ! I could figure how to get rid of it late at night and decided I could read it better. :) It went away next day !
These Back Country Rings are new to me, They are aluminum , I usually use Warne steel ones but thought they would work better on the Compass aluminum factory mount bases. They seem beefy and simple. I actually wanted the Back Country one piece base/ring system which cost very little more, but no listing for the Compass :(
