Just picked it up yesterday. While I know the prices have crept up to and past the $300 range, I'm not often a shotgun buyer. I swore I'd never pay 3 bills for a Mossberg 500 of any stripe but then I ran across this one. Or it ran across me. Whichever. 20231020_095444~2.jpg Old model Pursuader, in the box, and seller can't remember ever assembling it much less shooting it.
BTW, I still haven't paid $300 for a 500.

Those are great shotguns! Nice find. Looks like it dates back to when Mossberg was using the better grade of wood furniture, too. Love the traditional corncob fore end.

But I can say that I will most definitely pay well over 300 bucks if I can find one of the 590A1 Retrogrades in stock anywhere.

Kinda wish this one had the extended mag tube. The wood isn't anything special, but I'll take it over synthetic. It definitely pre-dates any "www." as there's none to be found on any of the literature.
I was kinda surprised to find the lock included in the case, but I also don't know when that became a thing.

I paid $175 for mine like 17 years ago. One of my first guns that I'd actually had and held onto for any length of time. Man they sure do feel janky compared to an 870 and others but I like em, always will. I paid $175 for it and $400 to get it back after paying a bogus fine to the game warden. Came sprinting out of the woods to speak with me and when I showed him my hunting license I leaned it up against my rig and he cited me for having a loaded long gun "in" my vehicle.

They are a dime a dozen and certainly no shortage of mossbergs but I'd never sell it and would buy another. Actually did, a new 590 for around the same price. You can't possibly ask more out of any gun for any price, much less $200 +/-

Collector’s Firearms in Houston is showing ten new ones on their website at this time. Don’t know if they ship to FFL or not.
