So I've been carrying a gen4 G26 with 12rd mags for a couple years. I shoot it great and am competent with it.

With everything going on in the world I was looking to add some capacity. I thought about trading up to a G19 when I found a solution that allows me to keep my G26 and turn it into something like a small G45.

This combo carries almost exactly the same as my 12rd mag set up and is basically just as concealable. I'm carrying OWB to begin with so a slight printing has never been an concern with me.

So just like the G45 is a combo of a G19 slide with a G17 grip, this is like a G26 slide with a G19 grip. And the capacity.

I'm dubbing this the G26.5. Will be my new carry set up.

can’t beat a glock! want to see a glock 17XL??? I got one, it’s hitous

Yep, used to carry my 26.4 that way too since I didn’t like the Gen 3/4 Glock 19 finger grooves.

Works fine and shoots great.

Still once I got the Gen 5 19 I sold the 26 and didn’t look back.

Yeah I just wanted the "option" of going back a little more compact even though I don't see that happening.

Then there's the cost of buying a new gun. I was seriously looking at trying to hunt down a gen4 G19.

But this option allows me the G19 capacity/grip but with option to downsize if there was ever a desire.

I prefer my 26's with the factory 10 rounder and wrapping my pinkie under the grip. The extensions make it feel sorta like a 19, and the ones I tried pinched the crap out of me.

I like the 26 because its small enough to go where a 19 wont.

I have a couple of 19's and they still bug me. I prefer the 17's. I have a 45 too, and that's another one that really makes no sense to me either. Its almost like someone from over at SIG switched to Glock and started designing guns. :D

If you like how it feels there’s no need for the 19 IMO. The 26’s hump hits the middle of my palm in an irritating way, which is why I stopped using it. Minor quibble but it was there

That's my thought. Carrying the 26 with the 12rd mag you definitely notice the "hump" although I had no problems with it.

With the G19 mags and XR spacers it feels close enough to a G19 grip to me. I know opinions vary.

Reloads take a bit of acclimation but are certainly doable with repetition/practice.

When I carried in such a way, I didn’t bother with the spacer on my reloads, just a basic 17 mag. Easier to conceal and still shoot fine.

I ended up with 3 G19's. Long story. Since it is hard to make a Glock any uglier, I decided to chop the frame down on one to G26 length. It isn't professional quality craftsmanship, but it works. I don't find the slide/barrel length of a G19 any harder to conceal than a G26, but the smaller grip of the G26 is a plus. I also ground off the finger grooves at the same time.

I now have a gun with a 4" barrel that will work with 10 round G26 mags, 12 round G26 mags, 17 and 19 round G17 mags or 33 round G18 mags. It's ugly, but functional.

Looks are naturally subjective…
I feel G26 in 9mm and G27 in .40 S&W are among the more attractive small Glocks.
