My new IWB leather for 3 inch Ruger SP101

Well I'm learning quickly on my new Cowboy leather sewing machine, and would like to share here pictures of two IWB holsters I've come up with for my 3 inch SP101. A little rearward cant on one and a vertical orientation on the other gives me a choice. I use vegetable tanned 8-9 ounce Hermann Oak leather, and my black is from home-brewed "vinegaroon", with brown coming from a strong tea and coffee mix I made. Pure neatsfoot oil followed by a triple topcoat of rubbed 50/50 mix of beeswax and neatsfoot oil gives them a sheen I like. I'm moving on to the full flap styles I most enjoy for my CZ75B, several Ruger revolvers and especially Ruger Old Army 7 1/2 inch adjustable sight versions. I'll post as I make them. Thank you. Yes that was a criteria for me. I scrapped another holster I designed because only my fingertips could be inserted between grip and holster. These are made so I can get a firm grip easily. Don

Thank you all for the compliments! My SP101 has worn those grips since day one 12-14 years ago (don't remember for sure). They are old rubber Uncle Mike's Boot Grips that I contoured on my belt sander. That way they don't peek out of my jeans pocket as they did from the factory. Don't know if Uncle Mike's still makes them, but I highly recommend them if you can find them. The checkering and rubber texture is great wet or dry, and the rear roll fits my palm perfectly. Don

wow those look great. and the vinegaroon looks really nice, i may try this as ive not been happy with the black dye ive used.

Don, the grips look quite nice. I'm a little confused though. I thought the holster with grips from the SP101 showing was a new creation of yours. I was really ready to send you a PM asking about cost, availability, so on etc.
Then later in the thread you mentioned an Uncle Mike connection.

So either way you are to be complimented. Nice, neat looking work. Were you going to bring any of these to market or just for personal use??

Just saw your post Mike, The grips on my SP101 are modified Uncle Mike's Boot grips from years ago. Yes, I designed and made the holsters for myself. It's Hermann-Oak vegetable tanned 8-9 ounce leather sewn on my Cowboy 3500 leather sewing machine. I'm hoping one day to be able to put some holsters out there for others but I'm still learning the workings of my new machine. Don
