When I joined this forum I thought that I had found a group of individuals who were interested in the same things I was, those things being firearms and a belief in the 2nd Amendment. I am absolutely appalled at the divisiveness on this forum when it comes to opinions on the organizations that protect the RKBA. I have always believed that we were all fighting for the same thing but I now see that this is not true. We aren’t fighting for the 2nd Amendment anymore; we are fighting about the way we choose to fight for it! I hope that there are no anti-2nd organizations that frequent this forum. If they do they will see that our own people are so divided that if left alone we will destroy ourselves. There was a time when it came to my 2nd amendment rights that I feared nothing more than the anti-organizations. This is no longer so, I fear the divisive people on the pro-2nd side! Some day when this battle is lost we will be able to look back and say, “We divided and conquered ourselves”.

You have, no doubt about it.

I disagree to a point. It's like when a family has an argument. It's their argument. Outsiders will find themselves facing a unified group if they interfere. Debating the tactics of fighting for the Second Amendment does not mean that the fight has lost focus, it means that there are a lot of people of varying opinions involved. Open discourse is always a good thing.

I haven't read anyone's post that felt that the Second Amendment should be eliminated or decreased, there is some debate as to how the fight should be handled. Just because we don't all walk in lock-step doesn't mean we aren't committed to the cause. I suspect that if a blatant challenge to the 2A were ever made ( a method that the anti's long ago learned is hopeless) all factions would forget the internecine fighting and present a united front.

ebd10 - a blatant challenge to the 2nd Amendment HAS been made in New Orleans, the most blatant in my memory.

I think a lot of the diviciveness you see is due to the shift in politics inside the NRA. They're cozy with the current administration and seem to be more than willing to compromise as of late. The "don't give an inch" mentality they had during the clinton years is gone. We need them to be just as strong now as they were then. They are still the big dog on the block and as long as they fight the fight few groups will even dicuss they will keep my support. I actually get intelligent replys to the email I send them with is more than I can say about my political reps.

This is nothing, absolutely nothing. Go check out the 9mm vs .45 threads or the 1911 vs Glock discussions. :)

This can be said of the GOP in general.

There are all sorts of divisions in all political groups. Hang around for awhile and you'll get to see the cop/anti-cop threads (typically get locked).

It isn't a bad thing; consider the virulent arguments during the Constitutional Conventions. Yet now, we talk of the Founders as if they were in complete agreement.

As for antis, they can lurk if they want. They might learn a thing or two.

Few arguments are half so noisy as those among family members.

That said™, when the chips are down, we all pull together. I think if you read the comments on the threads carefully, you'll see we generally think the N.R.A., G.O.A., et alia aren't measuring up to the tasks. I take that as a sign of very good health: an indicator that we're on the leading rather than trailing edge of commitment to the right to keep and bear arms.

The NRA sold us out in 1968, thats when I quit, and continued to do so. Their "political correct" attitude has led us to the situation in New Orleans.

I am a life member of GAO and they are following suite, sorry to say.

We have alrady let the gov't roll over us with the NFA acts of 1934 and 1968...alot of guys that are sportsman say "I dont need a machine gun, sure, ban them"...alot of hunters say "I dont need Black Assault rifles, sure Ban them" ...these kinds of things do nothing but hurt the root cause ALL of our rights should not be infringed...not just the ones we dont really "Need"...this is the main problem of our cause...it will never change, we just need to try and keep what we still have left.

So we're all supposed to be one in the same, like a bee colony, thinking exactly the same way, like mindless drones, or better yet, sheep: "NRA Goood, GOA Okaaay, republican goood, Democrat baaad." <in sheeple sound>

People are and should be independent thinkers. I don't have to necessarily be within 1% or even 5% either way of your pro-gun political views in order to stand on the same side with you, just as there are some Democrats here who share our interests in responsible gun ownership and the shooting sports.
