last night at wednesday,s local trap shoot i shot my 20ga xs-skeet with full choke tubes in place with 7/8oz #8 shot. i missed the first two hard right birds and broke the next 20 in a row, but missed the 23nd and finished up with a 22-25. i have shot the xs-skeet seven times at trap so far and 22 is the best so far with the worst being a 19, my goal is a 25-25 with the xs and i,m the one slowing it down,i know the xs is capable. i did shoot a 25-25 with my 12ga BT-100 right after shooting the 22-25 with the xs 20ga, but a bad rain storm kept from trying for another 50-50 with my BT-100. this sunday i will shoot my first sporting clays with the xs-20ga. eastbank.

Have you taken it to the pattern board with the ammo you use? Full may or may not be necessary for 16 yard targets. Most sporting clay courses I have attended can easily be shot very well with a 20 using an IC/LM or similar combo with carrying a M or IM for a far target.

at 71 i,m not as quick as i think i was when i was younger and the first two hard rights i missed were just that, no defence. i was useing a 590 top barrel and a 605 on the bottom barrel last night. for the sunday sporting clays shoot i,ll use a.620 ic top and a 605 sk1 on the bottom to start. i got choke tubes with the xs from .590 to .630. the way the birds broke i have the adj comb adj right for trap(patterning board), but i,ll mark it and adj it to shoot flatter for sporting clays on sunday. i wish it had longer barrels(28), at the state shoot at elysburg mr etchen has a 32" barreled 20ga browning but we could not get together on price and when this older xs-skeet was offered to me at a very ,very good price with hard lockable browning case and extra choke tubes in super condition i jumped on it. eastbank.

I own a 30" Ultra XS from about 15 years or so ago. Used it to win my class last weekend in the 20 gauge subgauge sporting event. After using a 12 gas gun, the switch took a shot or two to get used to. Wound up 45/50, so not too bad for an old, wrong-handed one-eyed scalawag........ ;)

i may just shoot the 20ga at all events so there may be less transional missed shots. once i master the 20ga, i can move on to the 28ga and then the 410 in about 25 years, ha,ha. eastbank.

Back when Remington made the 870 Special Field w 21" fixed choke bbls I got one in 20 ga.

Mod choke.

Used it on the trap range to 20 yards.

Old timers hated that gun, said it was loud due to short bbl.

Of course those guys never wore hearing protection.
