Glock 29 10mm or the G30SF 4acp. With this poll, I am not concerned with availability of ammo, reloading Issues, or price of ammo - I am purely concerned with performance, specifically ballistics.

Which would make you more comfortable, having 10r of 45acp or 10r of 10mm. Please vote not on your bias but the info provided and the info available on the 2 calibers. The G29 is a tad shorter and the G20 is a tad lighter. Seems like a pretty fair fight

Which gun would be the best for CCW and WHY???

CAL BR MOD CAP Lgth Hgt Wdt WT-E
10mm Glock G29 10 6.77 4.45 1.27 24.69
45acp Glock G30 10 6.77 4.76 1.27 23.99

There's also a G29SF (Short Frame) out now if you like that grip. I don't think you can go wrong with either of these though.

One thing to consider is the effectiveness of these cartridges in short-barreled guns. The .45 tends to suffer more. Everything up to 180 gr. bullets out of the G29 is still SCREAMIN' (1270 fps per Doubletap's website).

For cheap practice, you could buy an aftermarket .40 barrel too.

Good luck. :)

I think I remember some guy getting crucified by a prosecutor for defending himself with a 10mm.

I own all of Glock's .45's and no 10mm pistol, but I still voted for the G29. I believe it's the better of two excellent rounds.

I went with the 29 in your poll because I already went with the 29 myself. My daily carry takes me from the city to the mountains on a daily basis so I feel the 10mm gives me more versatility for anything I might encounter.

I voted 30sf for the shear fact of buying a Wolf conv. barrel and mags.
I have a G20 and a 1911 and i know its nice to have a choice in calibers.Winter time i would carry 10mm so the 275lb bad guy with a heavy coat on and many layers on i have the penetration of a 10mm.Summer time its the .45 when clothing is lighter.
I have the wolf .40 conv. barrel for mine and it works flawless.
If i had to only pick 1 id say .45 for it being more available, but ive had no issues getting 10mm ammo either locally or range and the net is great with DoubleTap.

.45

This is something to keep in mind.
One of the rules of "aftermath" is to be ready to explain to a court why you chose the caliber and ammo you did. The "victims" lawyers will use every attack they can.

I picked the .45 on the poll because ammo is more readily available, but honestly, for a carry gun, it's splitting hairs at this point.

I'd definitely pick a short frame Glock, but they're available in 10mm as well.

Pick whichever one you prefer, and if you aren't really leaning in one direction or another, flip a coin. There aren't enough differences to worry about for your intended purpose.

We don't need no steenking criteria for your question!!!!!! We're going to give you reasons you don't care about!!!

For the criteria you selected, hands down it's the 10MM if you buy real 10mm ammo. Otherwise it's pretty close. Actually a pretty tough round to compare because of the general disparity in pill sizes. If you boil it down to energy it makes it a little clearer.
