National Review April 16, 2018 has an excellent article about Professor Joyce Lee Malcolm,
"The 'Nice Girl' who saved the Second Amendment". It recalls her scholarship on the English Bill of Rights of 1689 which granted Protestants the right to have arms for their defense. (during the English Civil War the King was disarming his political opponents.) This is cited as powerful justification for an individual right to keep and bear arms. Thanks Prof. Malcolm!

Who ever said that one person alone cannot make a difference in our quest to understand the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, as well as to preserve our God-given rights to defend ourselves and our loved ones?

Very familiar with Joyce Lee Malcolm, especially from the Michael Bellesiles' "Arming America" scandal, what 17 or 18 years ago?

"Who ever said that one person alone cannot make a difference in our quest to understand the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, as well as to preserve our God-given rights to defend ourselves and our loved ones?"

Actually 2A scholarship supporting the individual right interpretation as the Standard Model is one well-vetted and careful academic scholar after another honestly studying history, law and language. As long as individuals say "one cannot make a difference" there won't be enough to make a consensus.

I'll give anti-gunner Alan Dershowitz credit for admitting the 2A means an individual right in the noun-verb sentence "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed" and for recognizing that preserving the ability to raise a militia is a reason to preserve the right of the people but not an exclusive clause. But then he wants to repeal the 2A as the only way to implement his ideal of "gun control". He at least is honest, unlike the other anti-gunners who twist and spin to deny the obvious.

Even liberal leaning constitutional law scholar Laurence Tribe has reached the conclusion that the Second Amendment protects an individual right.

But back to Professor Malcolm, for an excellent study of the erosion of gun and self defense rights in Great Britain I recommend her book, Guns and Violence, the English Experience (Harvard University Press, 2002).
