Nebraska Constitutional Carry

Does bill include preemption? That is, will this apply to Omaha? The complexities that city adds to the gun buying process is mind boggling, and if they can nullify the carry rule they will in a heartbeat. I used to live there and still have friends there.

From what I gather it will apply state wide, no exception for cities. But, we need to pass two more hurdles and I'll feel better when that is done.

That's a good question. I happen to be in Ohio where what we call no permit carry became law last June. I do have my CHL (Concealed Handgun License) so when I travel to states with reciprocal agreement I can carry. Here nor there. Here in Ohio years ago we had problems exactly as you mentioned. I am in the Cleveland suburbs. Cleveland had their own laws just as every suburb of cities and towns. Drive across a border and you go from law biding to breaking the law simply for a gun in the vehicle. How stupid is that? The state legislature took all of that up. Now Ohio Law trumps any local law and ordinance. End of it right there. Firearms are controlled under state law so all those little liberal meccas can no longer have their own little gun control laws. This is as it should be and hopefully other states will follow suit.

Hell my brother lives in Michigan and he needs to register his guns. Maybe that law excludes criminals?

Nearly got filibustered into oblivion, at least it beat the filibuster vote. I'm not holding my breath on this one. Omaha and Lincoln have way too much sway on what rest of the state wants. I do like they are ax-ing the $100 fee, torn on the whole not needing training.

I grew up in Omaha. I left in 1983. I still follow a Facebook page that posts the scanner reports from the OPD and Omaha sounds like Detroit now.

They report multiple shootings every night. Multiple car thefts.

I keep thinking at some point the voters in Omaha are going to vote the people writing their gun laws out but Omaha is a Union town and I think that's why they tend to skew so liberal

Unfortunately I think a lot of people from California and similar states have moved into Omaha and Lincoln. The current mayor of Lincoln is originally from Oregon...she hasn't been very popular with a lot of people here.

I believe that Pillen will sign it.
Pillen already said he will sign it. He’s actually pretty good regarding 2A matters. I’ve bee In contact with Susan giest from Lincoln. She didn’t vote at all in round 2 yesterday which would have made it 32-10 instead of 31. She’s running for mayor in Lincoln right now, and is touting her law enforcement endorsements. Well… they are also opposing this bill I understand, so… ya money talks…. I emailed and reached out to her office and let them know my thoughts… 2A all the way

Ditto. I see a lot of the state, and wow! What a difference!!!
