Was out late tonight doing some studying. When in this mood I often bum out. Tonight I had fleece sweatpants and a hoody on.

This is not a good wardrobe for anything I carry right now. My PM9 bulges in the pants pocket like crazy and will fall out of the hoody. And with no belt loops no belt for a 1911.

I have an ankle rig but prefer it for backup carry and the pants can ride up.

What other options are out there? I've seen Smartcarry and bellybands but have no idea about any of them

Stellar Rigs has a Kydex holster that you wear like a necklace. I know they make them for Kel-Tec P32s, but they may also make one for your PM9.

Prolly be pretty hard to beat the Keltec P-32/P-3at series with the lil clipy thing on the frame. Other than that, anyone else remember Thunderwear.LOL

Guess I should add: I'm looking for holster options not pistols. I'm happy with my little Kahr.

Just like a carpenter has different tools in his box, so should a CCW holder have different platforms for launching bullets!! :scrutiny:

In your case, the KT may be a better option, given your mode of dress!!

After all, you don't use a 4lb sledge hammer to drive in tacks!! ;)

How about a Kramer Confidant shirt holster?

I find that a belly band worn low as a belt works fine for me.

This is the holster I use when jogging etc, because I would be dressed similar to what you were wearing, and this provides a "belt" of sorts.

good luck finding something that works for you.

I've worn my Smartcarry under drawstring shorts on many occasions. In my opinion, it's an excellent solution for carry with that type of clothing.

THUNDERWEAR!!! Carry your 1911 with no problem. I carried a USP .45 for a while like this and had no trouble. Even though it isn't recommended. You can wear this on your side and carry the gun IWB strongside with the grip above the pant's waistband. Check it out. I wear mine when I wear sweats or board shorts. GREAT PRODUCT!!

How about a fanny-pack holster? The PM9 is small enough that you wouldn't have to resort to a huge, obvious one - Coronado Leather(IIRC) makes/made a very nice leather fanny pack holster that, in its small size, would hold that Kahr easily and looks entirely normal and unobtrusive.

I know you didn't ask about revolvers and this is the Autoloaders forum, but how about a S&W 642 in a pocket holster?

Belly band would work...that's what i use in sweats...but mine is just a strong side carry rig with another gun pouch on the off side...ifts a cell phone nicely...

Try a fanny pack if your state allows ccw. I retired my Walther PPK for a scandium Smith .38. Less ammo but you literally forget which pocket it's in. It doesn't drag a sweatshirt or any other pocket down.

As I sit here posting this response, Im in my house lounging clothes, athletic pants, and a t-shirt/sweatshirt. I have my 642 jframe(about the same weight as your pm9) in a iwb uncle mikes holster.

The UM has a cheap plastic clip so Im planning on replacing it with a bianchi or hunter metal clip on. I like the clip on iwb for casual lounging wear since you dont need a belt. I also have a bellyband and a ankle glove rig Im going to be a little more active thank walking.

I think I'd get more than a couple funny stares with a fanny pack and probably no more dates:neener:

A 642 wouldn't carry much better in my pockets than my PM9. The pants are quite soft and form to anything in the pockets.

Sapper:
Have you done any drawing with the UM IMB. The only clipper I have is a Hume and it pulls out with the gun unless I have a belt on. Does it stay on?

Drawing is no problem, though reholstering requires two hands. The main concern I have with the um is the plastic clip. I have visions of it snapping causing my pistol to plummet down my pants leg.

Im waiting for my next paycheck, and then Im ordering a suede iwb with metal clip to alleviate breakage concerns.

Way back when I started carrying I carried a Steyr M40 in one of these

Was comfortable and very concealable and more secure then pocket carry (and I didn't use the velcro thumb strap) plus having a place for a second mag is nice.

I still use the belly band when I'm wearing something without a belt (which is not often as even my shorts have belt loops)

I used to go hit the books similarly dressed. Unaware that there were several products already made for the purpose, I bought an really cheap cloth holster (uncle mike's maybe) and sewed it into an outer pocket on the messenger bag that I carried my books in. I then took pliers to the snaps which held the pocket (more of a flap, actually) closed and mashed them to the point that they would stay closed on their own but could be opened with very little effort (all I had to do was reach my hand into the pocket and the snaps popped open.)

Anyway, the system worked pretty well, and it was my regular book bag so I was carrying it anyway. All the easy of carry of a fanny pack and girls will still go home with you. Well, that part is up to you, but if they decline your offer at least you'll know it wasn't because of a fanny pack.

Several companies now sell messenger bags with "hidden" compartments for your pistol (I now have one from galati, although I still prefer my homemade model.)

hope you find what you are looking for,
waterhouse
