I need spare screws for my R55 Benchmark rifle and I cannot get them anywhere in the UK or from T/C support (via S&W).

There are 4 screws which attach the fire control unit to the receiver, here I have arrowed two of them:

Here is a picture of the screws (I don't care if the new ones are slot head or not):

The reason why I am having trouble getting these is because the screws are short and they are in UNF thread which is not that common around here.

These are the dimensions of the screws (as best I can measure):

The overall length is only 0.192"
The diameter of the threaded part is 0.132"
The diameter of the head is just under 0.2"

So, I would like to know what company in the US could supply me these screws if I sent them one of the screws to match, or even better would be a gunshop/gunsmith who happens to have exactly the screws I need.

I would be looking to get 16 of these.

I could probably use screws that are slightly longer, because the rear two screws won't hamper anything in the fire control unit. The front two screws may interfere with the forward magwell plate but I might be able to use them if I cut them.

A good gunsmith or machinist should be able to make those for you I'd alledge.

Is this a No.6-40 ? Do you have a pitch gauge to verify pitch or "Screw Checker" to verify size and pitch?

I have no means to check the threads, unfortunately. I had a look on the McMaster site but can't find a screw that matches these (ignoring the thread pitch entirely).

They look to be Weaver Head machine screws (slotted). Based on your "The diameter of the threaded part is 0.132" I would run with gpb as to being a #6 screw. They could be either 6-40 or 6-48 and I lean towards a 6-40, sure wish you had a thread gauge. The OAL could easily be cut down from .250" (1/4") screws.

No clue where you would find them local to you. As mentioned a good smith could make several fairly easily from some blank stock.

I think I will have to send these out to a shop in the US to get spares.
Ordinarily I wouldn't be too worried about these screws but in order to clean the R55 the fire control unit must come away from the receiver.

I am still looking for these screws. I got three oval head ones from John323 which are useable without any modification (tested them earlier), so if anyone has some oval head versions of these screws I am interested.

Just thought I would share the good news: I have found the required screws online, ordered them and tested them :)

I got them from castbullet.com:

http://www.castbullet.com/screws.htm#wohs

The ones to get are described as 6 - 48 x 5/32" Weaver oval head

Only 75c each, and what is more these screws are far better than the original T/C Arms because they have a more robust head.

Files can adjust length and screw heads rather easily.
A round head is most often the largest head to start with.
