Hi, I’m an absolute tyro when it comes to optics, particularly magnified optics on rifles. I got this scope for a good price and I figured I would try it out. It is reputed to be very durable and the SCAR17 platform is noted for being an optics killer.
Anyway I have it in a Bobro cantilever mount and in initially installing it I have questions about where I should put the optic on the rail. Should I favor a clear eye box at 1X, or should I put it where it’s clearest at 8X? Or should those positions be the same?
I feel like I have the scope mounted further forward than most people. I can flip up the rear sight without interference and I feel like I can go even further forward. The scope is as far forward as it can go in the rings.
I figured before I do something dumb I should ask your advice. Stock is set at 3, and my nose is just about touching the hinge and the comb feels good to me. If I go longer the scope looks better but I’m basically off the comb. If I extend the stock to get more LOP it feels wrong.
this thing weighs over 37 oz with mount so I’d rather not move it too far forward. Maybe I’ll get a bipod with wheels and tow it around. LOL
