Does anybody know what it is and from what make & model it came from?
There is a number stamped on the part - C46008 - 2 - SA

That looks to be a well worn M1 Garand Hammer, it can also be used in a M14.

Your first picture has some numbers if you can post them somebody can probably tell you for sure and give you a date range when it would have been used.

Again it is an early M1 Garand hammer.
SA = Springfield Armory.
2 = 1942.
C46008 = drawing number.
