Hi,
I received this slide and receiver from my neighbor and I am stumped as to what it is.
I thought it might be a Spanish copy of a Baby Browning but I am not completely sure because of the slide release. On the slide , it has a Spanish proof mark for pistol and "Automatic Pistol Cal 7.65" on the side. The only markings on the right side of the frame is "BG" and the serial number. On the left side of the frame the only markings are the proof house marks and either a "L" or a "D".

Any idea what it could be?

that's a Spanish Ruby, quality can be from quite good to horrendous depends on the particular Spanish gun maker/firm

The Triple K magazine catalog shows six different Spanish pistols marked only "Automatic Pistol Cal 7.65"; with no information as to the maker of any of them. Yours makes a seventh. I don't see anything in the list of 46 makers of Ruby pistols that BG would represent. Sorry.
