Need Help With This Sling

It looks like a M1907 sling, first used with the M1903 Springfield rifle. ( edited to add: yours appears to be missing a keeper, aka loop, there should be 2)

It's still my sling of choice for many applications.

The sling seems a little short for a 1903

I can't make out the imprint. Looks 188? J.C.Y

I can't find my tape measure but eyeballing the two, I'd say the Trapdoor's swivels are a good five inches further apart than a 1903's, so I don't see how a 1907 sling could fit. Well it would fit, but you'd lose a lot of adjustability. You want the 1887 sling, repros of which are occasionally available.
