A neighbor recently passed away and left behind two shotguns his wife wants me to "get rid of." One is a Stevens 311 dbl in 20ga--know it well--that was my first shotgun but mine was 12 ga. The other is a single shot Beretta shotgun in 20ga. On top of the chamber is written "Vittora" which I am assuming is the model name along with the phrase VERITABLE MONOBLOC in scrolling, and on the side is "Fucile Rinforzato Speciale Brevettato." The receiver appears to be aluminum and the wood is nicely finished with some checkering, but nothing elaborate. The action is operated by a release lever in front of the trigger guard--first time I've seen an arrangment like that. It's a nice light little shotgun which I am thinking of keeping because my daughter-in-law has trouble hefting the lightest of dbl barrels. I can't find comp data anywhere on the net. Any ideas what this gun might really be worth?

Galef Inc. started importing these guns at least thiry years ago.
They are well made, decent little shotguns usually featuring an extremely tight full choke barrel.
As far as I know these guns are still made for the global market but no importers are now bringing the gun into the U.S. that I am aware of.
I remember the guns selling for $165.00 new 25 years ago.
Incredible price for a single barrel, then and now,but the guns do seem to have a bit of a collector following.
In any kind of decent shape, I will venture that the guns retail value will be between $150.00 and $200.00 today. HTH

Colonel,

I believe this shotgun is worth more to you than anyone else, and I would recommend keeping it. It sounds like a beautiful firearm.

Great little shotgun, I have been looking for one the last few years. Beretta USA made plans to begin importing these again back in the late 80's, but decided against the idea. A shame, really, as it is a very good quality gun, made even better in my eyes by the lack of a hammer.

The few I have seen over the past 5 years have been either .410 or 12 gauge. Most were in the 200-250 dollar bracket. I think the monoblock is chromed, not aluminum, but I could be wrong.

Nice little gun, I would be very willing to buy it if you so decide.

Thanks for the quick info, friends. I think I'll hang onto it since my wife and daughter-in-law like it so much. Best
