Hey guys,

I'm looking for a lighter bullet to shoot out of my Remington 1:12 twist SPS Tactical. After a weekend of shooting 168gr my shoulder is a bit sore. I figure that going with a light bullet at the same velocity, should be a bit easier on the body.

In any case, I am partial to Sierra bullets and was looking at MatchKings in the 150gr range. I see that they have a 150gr BTHP, a 155gr BTHP and a 155gr BTHP Palma. Does anyone know the difference among these. I wasn't able to find any info.

Thanks.

Tony, I actually really enjoy calling the sierra hotline (800 223 8799) and talking to their tech support guys. They are extremely knowledgeable and usually friendly. I always wind up learning the answer to my question, plus 4 or 5 others I didn't know to ask.

I don't know the answer about the difference in bullets, but I will say that I can't tell much difference in recoil from switching between 168g, 175g and 155g.

I know you already know that silencers, brakes and adding weight to the rifle (or a limbsaver pad, though these tend to interfere with precision shooting) are the normal ways to reduce recoil.

Tony,

Consider using the 168SMK at a reduced velocity. I have been shooting 200 yard F Class using just such a load. I load it down to perhaps 2300fps using 37.2gr of IMR4895. It has proved to be a very accurate, mild recoiling load, and atleast out of my gun, is a more accurate load than a 155gr load.
