I would like some opions on the Mossberg O/U. Recently I put a used Silver Reserve 20ga. on layaway. (impulse buy) Went home and did a little research on them which wasen't all the favorable, and ended up buying something else, Browning Citori and CZ Redhead Deluxe both in 12ga.
Now am considering buying a new Mossberg O/U like what they have on GB with the 28in barrels in 20 and 12 gauge. The planned use of this gun is for our 16 year old daughter and my gun abuseing father in law  on occasional weekends at the trap range.
What atracts me to the Mossberg is I can pretty much have two guns for what I was going to pay for the used Silver Reserve. Is the Silver Reservre and the non- SR the same shotgun with out the engraving ? And does anyone
own either one of these guns an d what do you think of them ?

Thanks C55

All of the Mossberg Imported Silver Reserves are the same basic gun, Mossberg had their importer fix a all of the problems in late 2007.

If you're looking at a used one, make sure the serial numbers are higher than:

12GA - TR12046393
20GA - TR20015092
28GA - TR28005777
.410 - TR410006194

I won one of the Silver Reserve "Duck's Unlimited" 12GA/20GA combos in 2008

I kept it for a short time then sold it so I could buy more guns...

It wasn't a "bad" gun, if I had the chance to get a good price on one, I'd consider it....

I have never heard of one of the guns "after the fix" having problems....

Thanks Smitty, I was looking at the combo guns on GB.com. They are new in box with a set of 12ga and 20ga barrels for $499.00 dollars. Which is half the price of my CZ and a third the price of my used Citori. If they have fixxed the problem of the fireing pins breaking, I think this would be a great starter gun for our daughter. Plus I really like the feel of the gun.
