Hi all,
I'm looking for a "higher power" BB gun for campground fun (BB/pellet is preferred, but BB-only is fine to suppliment a Gamo Swarm and rimfires.)

Multi-pump could be kinda-sorta nice for shooting yellow jackets at close range or more pumps for longer shots. (although i prefer a break barrel, nothing is set in stone).

Crosman 760 and Crosman Legacy 1000 is about all I can find, as my Google-Kung-Fu sucks.
As many different ideas as possible to research would be greatly appreciated.

I shot several break barrel .177/.22 pellet rifles along with Crosman Legacy 1000 and got decent groups out to 50 yards during Covid (1"+ at 25 yards and 3"+ at 50 yards using select pellets) but was surprised to get minute-of-soda/tomato cans with BBs out of rifled barrel Legacy 1000 at 10-15 yards using 5-6 pumps. I put a nice 4x scope on Legacy 1000 but it ended up being "Pay it Forward" to a friend's grandson.

Since, I have been looking at smooth bore Crosman 760B Pump Master for $37 to shoot BBs with - https://www.amazon.com/Crosman-760B-Master-177-Caliber-Pellet/dp/B0018LGT5K

Had two Daisy 880s when our kids were growing up but $52 Legacy 1000 hands down shoots BBs flatter with higher velocity after 5-6 pumps compared to 880 maxed out - https://www.amazon.com/Crosman-CLGY1000KT-Synthetic-Legacy-Caliber/dp/B01G797YAG

There's another option, especially if you are shooting pellets with $60 Crosman 2100 (Classic) which is heavier duty version of Legacy 1000 - https://www.amazon.com/Crosman-2100X-Classic-Variable-Caliber/dp/B01DMJKJ2E/ref=sr_1_3?

And Barra 1866 lever action BB/pellet rifle is $69 - https://www.amazon.com/Barra-Cowboy-Lever-Action-Pellet/dp/B07ZHMKQ74

There's Winchester 77XS which is rifled pumped up Daisy 880 and comes with disposable 4x scope for $98 - https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1015782314

I am thinking about getting the Barra 1866 just because it looks "neat" with lever action which produced above 650 fps with 0.44" 10 yard group with BBs (10:00 minute of video for chrono test and 12:00 for accuracy). BTW, Barra has rifled barrel. But to produce that level of accuracy, Barra needs to be pumped 10 times while Crosman 760B/Legacy 1000 only requires 5-6 pumps for my acceptable accuracy of minute-of-cans ... Heck, I may get both.

And you can use Henry scope mount for the Barra? Nice. :)

I have been following Barra 400E battery powered full auto BB rifle with decent accuracy report out to 30 yards but waiting for price to drop (Currently $424). Accuracy at 10 yards beginning at 8:10 minute of video after red dot zero - https://www.amazon.com/Barra-Airguns-400e-Metal-Automatic/dp/B09YG4GRJY?th=1&psc=1

Thank you! Lots of good ideas there!

I wish i hadn't grown up in deep blue suburbia, with rubber band guns only (fingers, not the scary wooden guns), or else I would already know this stuff!

Don't worry about not knowing. That's what we're here for. A great many shooters started out shooting BB guns. I know I did. The canonical Daisy Red Ryder, no less. Then I moved on to a Daisy 880, BB/pellet gun combo. I haven't shot one in many years, but my memory is that it was MOSC (Minute of Soup Can) accurate out to about 20 yards.

Haha, good times...i cannot get a BB gun shipped to California.
Looks like i need to find one in a store somehow.
Gonna go for the Crosman Legacy 1000.

To piggyback this thread, howzabout a pistol recommendation?

Best "bang for the buck" (pun intended) for shooting quality/accuracy at a modest price point...for shooting Yellow Jackets off the trash, flowers off their stems, sub-10yd goofing around when camping-bored and not wanting to get up off the chair...hence pistol format.
CO2 is least desirable.

Check out Sportsman's Warehouse that has stores in CA - https://www.sportsmans.com/shooting...ce:Ammo Type:BB:Ammo Type:Pellet+%26+BB&text=

And Big-5 - https://www.big5sportinggoods.com/store/browse/outdoors/airguns/bb-and-pellet-guns/_/N-alcZ1z140ll

Gonna go for the Crosman Legacy 1000.
Sportsman's showing $89 - https://www.sportsmans.com/shooting...n-legacy-1000-177-caliber-air-rifle/p/1648791

I was pretty happy with Legacy 1000 shooting BBs even though barrel was rifled. And believe me, I have shot thousands of BBs ... lost count how many large bottles of BBs I shot ... Probably became "smoothbore"

pistol recommendation?
Both Sportsmans/Big-5 have quite a bit of pistol selection, mostly CO2 - https://www.sportsmans.com/shooting...ol:Ammo Type:BB:Ammo Type:Pellet+%26+BB&text=

CMP still has refurbished Daisy target pellet guns. Around $200 and well worth it.

If you have a Tractor Supply store nearby, you can ship to store for free (They will ship to CA):
Another option is Ruger/Umarex NXG APX Shooters Rifle Kit BB/pellet (Comes with BBs, pellets, glasses and targets) for $89 but 490 fps rating is much lower than Legacy 1000/Pump Master/Barra lever action - https://www.sportsmans.com/shooting...s/umarex-nxg-apx-shooters-rifle-kit/p/1411833

Thank you all for the help; much appreciated.

Holy cow is the Gamo Swarm hot! Goes right through both walls of a 5gal galvanized trash can and into the cabinet behind it!

Ha! I’d ask you how you know, but I’ll bet I can guess.

I really, really like my Sheridan Blue Streak multi-pump .20 caliber pellet rifle. And it has accounted for more starlings in the currant bushes behind the garden than I can remember. Multi-pump air rifles should come with a warning for women users though - once my wife closed the pump handle on one of the protuberances on her chest.:eek::eek:
She hasn't shot my Sheridan Blue Streak since - unless I pump it up for her.
BTW, for fun one day I shot my pellet rifle across my chronograph. I don't remember what the velocities were, but I DO remember the velocity increases were very linear - each additional "pump" added about the same increase in the velocity of the pellet. :)

After much consideration of what I'll "actually" use this for, the CO2 pistol format won out and now a Daisy 415 is proving to be just about right. As a kid in the '80's with a CO2 pistol that could only get about 35 shots, this thing doubles that, and is far more accurate to boot!

I also got a Ruger Mk IV break barrel 190fps for indoor use and it is quite fun too...just waiting for some .177 darts to arrive. :)

Crosman 2100 is a decently accurate BB shooter with some oomph. Daisy 35 is another good un, smoothbore. Crosman 760 isn't bad, daisy 880 isn't bad. Just pick one and keep the pump head oiled, should last several years.

For shooting bugs and bees look at a "bug-a-salt"
They are a pump action air gun that shoots a small blast of table salt, loaded from a small hopper when you pull the slide to the rear.
Great fun and very inexpensive and effective.

Whaddaya ya know...
I was just given an old 760.
Wow, it is heavy. The cocking lever won't stay up on its own, and 5 pumps or 10 seem the same.
Time to go down the rabbit hole to hopefully find info for a rebuild. :)

To update my OP, i feel good with the Daisy 415 for a "longer-range" camp chair shooter, but the ricochets can be brutal for "campire-chair-circle" shooting.

My unicorn gun for this niche is medium sized, smaller than a rifle, with multi-shot pellet mag, CO2 powered, SUPER accurate at short distances, and metered to around 200-250fps.

Hmmm, is there any such thing as people trying to modify a good, accurate gun for LESS power?!

I just broke out a Daisy 415 Powerline today for the first time in several years and was amazed how accurate it was after I figured out where it shoots. I was using Hornady black diamond bb and shot high holding as I do a semi auto. When I brought my sights down it was right on at 40ft. My wife joined me and she enjoyed it a lot. It might be just the push she needs to get into shooting. Cheap fun you can have without leaving home.

Update on that ol Crosman 760... a couple of original, but used, pump linkage parts off ebay were received, but worn out in other areas...
...and i damaged the pump cylinder adapter thingy that was nowhere to be found... Poor gal sat in pieces for weeks.

FINALLY! There appeared, a Canadian store D&L Airguns that has old and new reproduction parts!

This old rifle purrs like new! Unfortunately in Silicon Valley, there is no such thing as easy testing of even a BB gun. ESPECIALLY if one is law-abiding.

And that Daisy 415 has won a smiley face on the chalk board. The sheer volume of mostly accurate fire from a single CO2 is amazing...despite me wanting some kind of hopper, I give it a solid "A".
