Time to replace a couple of old stands. So I've climbed into a few stands at various hunt clubs trying to get a feel of what would be comfortable and safe to use. Most of what I am seeing is flimsy and not stout feeling at all. I'm looking for a minimum of 17' and just a roomy one-seater. Interested to hear your recommendations. If you have any pics, that would be groovy as well. Thanks in advance.

There is a lot of different ladder stands on the market. I left links for two stands that I like for different reasons. The Big Game 17' would be a great archery stand for a area that has thicker brush.
The Rivers Edge 21' stand will go where I have had a strap on stand. It overlooks a marsh and would be primarily used while hunting with a rifle. Note: I have given up on transferring my big body to strap on stands.

Millenium L110 or the double version, the L-220.

Buy once. Cry once.

This has been one stand I can say that there were very few compromises made on. Very comfy too.

I have one L110 and a Monster 150 and the Tree Seat. Same seat same comfort from all of them at all different elevations

A friend has several Rivers Edge stands on my farm, he likes them and they seem well made.

I tend to buy cheap and cry often. So I can’t help you. I do make really nice stands out of wood. Basically decks with a tree near by to break the silhouette.

Not cheap, and US made. Novix ladder stand. $750

I may buy just a climbing ladder from them, $300.
$750 is too much to risk losing (our hunting gets trespassers).

Another US manufacturer......

FWIW got a Big Game 15 footer from RK when I had foot/knee problems. $100.
Killed a deer out of it.
Not as comfy as hoped.
Take to scrap yard in 5 yrs IMHO.
Not a fan of Chinesium. But was in a pinch (mid season and kinda crippled).

Rivers edge and the lockdown line that goes up from the ground is great.
This is what I have they make many including 2 man.

Late as heck but cheep two seater ( 1.5 seater) I think is better than a good one seater. Tie it all off with camo net. Room under your rear for backpack. You can move around and get comfortable. 16 or 20 inch rifle can sit on your lap.

Good tree and one extra brace your good to go. Years ago my brother bought three to fill in gaps. Walmart clearance. Cheep.

To this day they get adjusted and straps checked or replaced . Ladder legs sit on 2x12. Perfect for when they start avoiding towers.

As I mentioned. A good tree , well placed straps. Ladder on a board. Extra brace. A cheep one works well for a heavy fella.
