Range bag, for me, is that container than makes it easier to get to the firing line with the least number of trips, while also helping prevent forgetting something I might need.
It stores the items neatly while at home, and keeps them concentrated while at the range.
Rather than one huge bag, I have smaller bags.
This is the "pistol" bag. I have spare magazines for all the pistols I own in the pockets. On the right is the Kit, First Aid, Individual, which has had a few of the military components replaced with more specific items.
Inside the center compartment there are two velcro-closed pockets that hold a 5x7 notepad, on one side, and a range scoring card on the other. The main compartment will easily hold as many 50 round ammo boxes as a person wants to lift. Plenty of room for a zipper bag that is a catch-all for pens and the like. There's a skinny drawstring bag that has foam ear plugs.
This is the rifle bag. It, too has extra mags in it's pockets. One end pocket has a note pad a nd pens and the like (and a ziplock of foam ear plugs). There's random tools and accessories in the other end pocket. Plenty of room on the inside for ammo, and muffs and the like. And, yes, there's another IFAK latched on this bag as well.
