I don't know anything about hunting with a scope. period. i have my fathers 22-250 win 70 with a 3x9 leupold scope on it, and when its sighted in, he can pop just about anything with it. i can not. it seems not matter how much i adjust at the range, nothing ever dies when i'm out hunting with it. help?

Are you hunting with your father's rifle & scope? If so, it may not be you but the scope's adjustment. Your eyeball and that of your pop may not see the same and thus your point of aim/impact will differ. In sniping teams, it's optimal to have the snipers who see alike through the same scope team up. No adjusting of the scope that way.

Now, if you have your own, then the advice given by Legionnaire is good.

Problems can arise from something as small as, he cants the rifle a bit to the right and you cant it a bit to the left. That's just enough off for you to miss, while he's happily hitting the targets.

So, for best results, you should do some sight-in to suit your eyes and the way you hold the rifle.

For a .22-250, about an inch and a quarter high (for the center of a three-shot group) at 100 yards should put you dead on around 200 and maybeso four inches low at 300...
