I am looking for a good middle of the road, so to speak, 20 gauge. I handled the Mossberg SA20 and Stoeger M3020, just did not do anything for me feeling kind of "cheap". I did like the Franchi Affinity and the pricing did not seem like it would break the bank. I would like other good quality suggestions in the <$1000 price bracket. New only, not looking for used. It will be used for putting birds on the table for dinner.

The Weatherby SA-08 is worth a look. Nice fit and finish, and turkish walnut stocks. The Winchester SX-3 and Browning Silver are both available in 20ga also.

I bought a SA-08 Deluxe about 6 months ago for rabbit hunting . They say it needs a break-in . Mine has worked flawless so far , got a rabbit first shot . The only thing I don't like about it is , that it has a 14 1/2" LOP . That is to long for me with heavy clothes .

Don't much care for inertia operated shotguns. But I can say, after having one for decades, that the Franchi 48L 20ga. is the best upland game gun I've every handled.

I picked up a used Benelli M1 Super 90 in 20 ga for my wife a few weeks ago. So far it's been a very good gun. It swings well and has been her goto for snakes and furry critters.

We got it for $600 otd.
