I recently went to my favorite little gun store in Prescott, Az. where previously I purchased various 3 screw Rugers a .357 BH, as well as a .30Carbine BH, not to mention an M-1 .30 Carbine all within the past couple of years. Well just last week I was up there again, and low and behold I found a SBH with 7.5" barrel three screw in the box with the original purchase receipt in 1971 for the total price of $114. OTD. Needless to say I had to pay $399.00+ tax, but I do believe I got a fantastic price on that smoke pole, also the owners manual and NRA card was still in the box as well.
When removing the cylinder and looking down the barrel, I saw the lands and grooves were very sharp, and it looked like the firearm had been barely fired, if at all. I noticed no holster wear on the barrel or the cylinder. If I remember right that shop was asking pretty close to $1200.00 the last time I was in there, which was about a year ago. When asking the gentleman why so cheap, he stated, "we must have priced it wrong". Needless to say I stated I'll buy it . Note: the revolver had definitely not been re-blued, and the barrel's lands and grooves being so sharp testify to it's lack of rounds going down the barrel. Below are photos of the Ruger recently purchased.
