new 91/30 scopes

im still looking for a vintage scope and mount set up for my mosin, and online i can find scope/mount/cover for 200 or so bucks. but the scope is more new production, still russian but more new.

has anyone put one of these on theirs? are they any better or worse than the older ones?

I know you want traditional but this way is so much less expensive, have you given it any thought. It ends up looking very traditional when done and you could do it yourself.

+1 on the POSP scope for the Mosin

I added one to mine, and I love it.

Pros are its a fantastic scope for the money, has a built in bullet drop for 7.62x54R, looks seriously sweet, and really easy to modify the Mosin

Cons are it does add a decent bit of weight to an already heavy gun, and you have to permanently alter your rifle (drill and tap, plus bending the bolt handle)

In a world where you can buy a rare Chinese Mosin for $35, buy two Russian ones(not rare) and modify the one in the worst condition and modify it.

I went with a Russian made PU scope and mount on mine. A modern reproduction scope but still nice, it came from the Ukraine. I didn't want a collector I wanted a fun project and a shooter, it turned out well.
