Thanks for posting this. I, too, am interested in hearing from anyone who's tried one.

The only minor negative I see is that, unlike the RIA GI model, it uses Series 80 internals.

The Series 80 firing pin safety is the only major departure of the Thompson/Kahr/Auto Ordnance gun from the WW2 configuration. The RIA equivalent has more visible changes, such as a chamfered ejection port. I recently assembled four clones of WW2 M1911A1's, using Thompson and RIA (two each) guns as the basis, and I had to discard a lot more of the RIA parts than I did of the Thompson parts. In particular, the RIA slides were unusable, because of the ejection ports as well as the taller sights. Good thing I had some spare Colt replacement slides.

I sure wish companies claiming to reproduce military 1911's would get the slide right.

My early production Springfield Armory M1911A1 is pretty close to government issue except for the slide serrations. All in all though for an entry level M1911 it's a very reliable and well built gun.

Don't care much for the Series 80 guts either; that's a ''deal-killer'' for me. Otherwise, I do like how it looks.

All the firing pin safety parts can be replaced with standard parts, as long as you use a spacer in the frame. That's what I did with mine. Nothing is visible externally.

It's chambered in 9mm LUGER. That is a rather hugely significant departure from the GI A1, so....

In my opinion (which, when coupled with @ $5.50 will get you a cup of coffee at a fru-fru cafe), once chambered in 9mm, there is no reason to produce a pistol with tiny, fixed GI sights. It's already an abomination, albeit a useful one that will please many, so why maintain purity in areas that offer nothing to the user ? Everyone should do with their own money whatever they wish that causes no great harm to others, so by all means, a 1911A1 in 9mm for all!, but debating it's historical accuracy seems rather silly.

Yes, I understand that that is possible. I am kind of a 'purist' when it comes to the 1911 so I am sure that you'll understand why I cannot suffer the ''dissonance'' :uhoh: of owning a Series 80. :) Dang it though, that case-hardened version is really calling out to me...:scrutiny:
