I've "heard" from two different people that Buffalo Bore is going to make a 50gr. FMJ that gets an honest 850 fps from guns like the Beretta 950...

I don't put much stock in rumors, I haven't heard of this as wide spread gossip, BB is know for making ammo all it should be without going over saami specs.... such as they just did with the .32acp 75gr. FMJ.

anybody else hear such talk?

JERRY ..... BB is know for making ammo all it should be without going over saami specs....
:scrutiny:
To say they don't go over SAAMI specs is incorrect. They are quite clear that their .380 & .32 exceed SAMMI specs.
BB "invents" loads that don't yet have a SAAMI spec.....such as .380+P, .32+P and others.

I expect them to begin production any day on .40+P+++Extra Power.

really? I didn't know that.

they state their 75gr. .32acp load is not over saami specs, but because it is loaded hotter than the usual suspects they market it as +P.

what are the saami specs for the 7.65mm/.32acp?
71gr. @ 221 psi max, average or standard is 205?

Buffalo Bore subscribes to the hype theory to sell ammunition...which is unfortunate because their .32 ACP round using the Rim Rock Bullets .312 hard cast 75 gr. bullet is absolutely awesome. Probably one of the premier SD choices for .32 ACP. I shot a lot of .32 offerings and looked at a lot of penetration tests and used BB's load as a reference for developing my own using the same bullet.

The .32 ammo is top end. It is a shame that BB touts it as "+P" and that they have all the hype and stuff on their description of the product. But that does not change the fact that they seem to be one of the few companies that is still researching and developing SB based loads for pistols/in calibers that many have set aside. They are expensive rounds. No doubt they hype them to create an allure which drives the price high.

I bought enough of their .32 hard cast to evaluate and emulate and now that I have my own .32 hand loads I don't have to patronize their hype ridden product with my money. But they shoot and perform. I feel that penetration is the key in small calibers and prefer penetration to expansion.

The BB .32 penetrates over 17" in my tests. If their alleged .25 offering comes out it should be worth a try I'd think.

Well if Buffalo Bore can get more performance out of the .25ACP, my Baby Browning and I are all for it.

I would like to use BB ammo but it's just too expansive. Their ammo runs $26/20 rounds (32 Auto) up to $29/20 rounds (.38 Special) and as much as $38/20 & $40/20 rounds rounds (45 Auto & 45 Colt)! At those prices there is no way I can afford to practice with that ammo and if I can't practice with my carry ammo I can't carry it.

Buffalo Bore makes a good product and was lucky enough to gain a spot in the talking points of the forum people. So many people repeat they are the best ammo in the universe meanwhile most probably don't shoot it because of the price. That doesn't matter though as long as they repeat what everyone else is saying so they sound smart because they are agreeing with the talking points.

NO! I am not talking about anyone in this thread. I'm speaking generally from what I've seen over the past few years pertaining to BB ammo so don't get your panties all in a bunch. (It's a shame I have to even write that but there are so many fragile men these days!)

I think of it as strictly carry ammo. Shoot it enough times to know it works in my gun, then switch to less expensive ammo for practice.

Agree it's too costly to plink with.

"Most max loads for .25 ACP are what? Maybe 1.1 grains?"

I've never messed with it, but this is the info I have handy.

.25 ACP
50 grains Round Nose FMJ Bullet
COL 0.9"

Powder Charge Weight Range
Bullseye 1.0 to 1.3 grains
Unique 1.7 grains
R1 1.0 grains
700X 0.8 to 1.0 grains
Red Dot 0.8 to 1.2 grains
HP38 1.0 to 1.3 grians
231 1.2 to 1.6 grains

yepper, 50gr. FMJ @ 850 fps from a Beretta 950 really gives those folks with a .25acp something better to rely on. (spare us the "you should get"....).

while that Wisconsin ammo maker claims that velocity, what gun are they using to test it? and by whom is it verified? ive never heard of Wisconsin ammo comp. but I have heard of Buffalo Bore. and B.B. has the rep for delivering what they claim (unlike DT cough cough)....

No panties in a bunch.... ;)

Yeah, I also get tired of "Fan Boys" or worse yet folks who haven't tried something or have any RL experience with it and go off on a tear about it. I have no experience with the BB .25 but I rather like the caliber in the Baby Brownings and The Colts Pistol in .25...shot a few of them and will have me another one someday.

I have shot perhaps 200 rounds of the BB .32 in penetration tests and evaluation testing out of my Colt 1903's and it is a really good round...Hot but not beating my pistols up and very accurate. I like the round just not the hype.

I'd recommend, with any of the premium/expensive SD rounds (be they .25, .32, 380, 9mm or whatever) that you buy enough to test shoot to ensure reliability and then practice with range/plinking ammo. Practice with the cheap stuff - carry the reliable good/high performance stuff. Luckily I hand load so I can load anything I want (any bullets I can get...) and make my own premium ammunition assembled for the particular firearm I intend to shoot it in.

For those dependent on factory ammo, reading reviews and talking to folks who have actually shot some of this stuff is the best alternative. The 'Net and Discussion forums are a tremendous source of information. Both accurate, mis, and dis information and it is difficult to wade thru the talking heads and get applicable facts especially in SD ammo.

Read a lot and ask questions is my free advice. I'd bet the BB .25 will be pretty good stuff but the only way to tell is buy 100 rounds and check it out in yer pistol.

Liking my fingers right where they are at the moment, I can't think of a .25ACP pistol that I'd wanna put such ammo through. :uhoh:

700x powder is by far the hot number for .25acp I loaded some 35 grain HPs up to 1050fps with 700x in a Beretta 20 and could have gone higher! They expanded well in water at that velocity FWIW. Knock 150 fps off that load in a baby browning .
