If you are looking for an affordable borescope you may want to check this out. Teslong Rifle Borescope, yes from China.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07TTQF24F?ref=myi_title_dp

It isn't up to the level of a Hawkeye I'm sure but it is handy, easy to use and affordable. It is basically a camera that plugs into a computer or phone something a Lyman will not do. It can capture pictures and I think even video. The pictures are very clear and can be quite large depending on the monitor you are using. Beware that you will see scary stuff inside a gun barrel.

Not for use with iPhone or iPad.

I got one and it much better than two other cameras I tried. Even the .45 mirror works well, it think I'll get better results with a guide to hold the camera in the center of the bore.

FWIW, I was able to use mine with my iPad by connecting it to a little wifi dongle that came with another bore scope camera. You plug in the camera and set your wifi connection to the device. It does require the use of their app. Not this exact one, but similar.

I ordered a $10 'camera on the end of a USB cord' a few days ago for this same purpose.

It's not even here yet, but it's 'replacement' has just been ordered!

Mine arrived today.
Nice simple kit.
Installation was simple. (PC w/Win10. Plug it in, search for 'Camera', done)
I've never owned a borescope before so 'take it for what its worth'...
Played around with it for a couple minutes on a plastic salt shaker (of all things).
Image / resolution on my monitor was pretty darm impressive!

Time will tell, but I'm pretty darn optimistic at this point!!!!

My review would be very similar to the video above. I like mine, a lot!
I plug into a desk top / view through a large~ish monitor. SCARY amounts of image enlargement.
The biggest problem I've had since then is a bizarre craving to 'scope (and clean) everything I have.
(Confirmed what I already knew,,, time for another 223 barrel,,,)

With this first 'scope, I know that my cleaning regime will be changed forever.
Not so much because it was '~bad~,,,, but:

I have a copper cleaner I like and a carbon cleaner that does a decent job.
Neither one does the other ones job very well,,,
Now that I can see exactly what I'm up against and where its at,,,, so much easier to do a better / more efficient barrel cleaning.

(Honestly been thinking about another one as a gift to another 'scope-less' shooter)

My barrel looks Terrible inside but it does shoot pretty well so I plan on running it for awhile yet maybe not long though. The cleaning is what got me interested in scoping the barrel to begin with, now the question is how clean is clean enough and how clean is too clean. A little copper helps with this barrel for sure.

Mine came in yesterday, plugged it into my laptop and checked out a couple guns.

Confirmed my suspicions for a .270 that I've had for over 30 years. Last couple seasons my old faithful load had opened up to 1.5MOA, scope shows that the throat is toast. Scope works very well, well worth the $50.

I'm ordering one now, we spent 2500.00 getting a Hawkeye bore scope system setup for TV viewing and VCR recording many years ago, now look what great advances have come about in borescopes. Fantastic idea!
