My newest acquisition (and the last for a while) came in today... Extrema Ratio MF2.

I was really impressed with this knife. I paid way more than I ever thought I would for a blade, and I must say, it was worth every penny.

It came in a very nice quality box in a custom foam insert. Handle is very sturdy and light for aluminum. The ergonomics are also very nice, although the second hilt may take some getting used to. The knife is larger then I thought it would be. IT is every bit of 10.5" as advertised. I like 'em large, so EDC with this one will be no problem.

The blade is razor sharp and opens very smoothly as if on ball bearings. It locks up tight, with the second lock as insurance (I will prob never use this).

Finally the clip is a bit loose for my liking, but still very nice quality.

As I said, well worth every cent. Extrema makes one hell of a blade.

Now for pics:

it was worth every penny.

Just curious, but if it just came in today and you haven't done any extensive cutting testing of it why do you say it was worth every penny if it was kinda expensive?

Good question... not being a metallurgist, I am basing my statement on look/feel/fit/quality.

Honestly I never really suggest my knives to any testing other than EDC tasks (except the Ti-lite which stays home a lot).

Maybe I'm just a mall ninja at heart :D

He said it was worth every penny he spent on it. That's good enough for me... Now I want to know how much he spent on it. $17.95, hell yeah, right on.

No, $17.95 is a cheap "replica"/knockoff.

A real Extrema Ratio MF2 costs $280-$380 unless you get very lucky.

I hate to say it, Egg, but I think it looks like a prop from a bad sci-fi movie.

Has that sub-hilt snagged your pocket yet? It snagged your billfold pretty hard . . .

I could see that... It is a rather modern (dare I say Kiingon?) design.

HAHA!! When it folds the blade is taller then the sub-hilt, so it won't snag. Same can't be said for the wallet though... I actually sold a watch I had for 5 years to a buddy to finance this.

Didn't know, $17.95 is a good price though

I think it was advertised as being a paracord cutter or a wire stripper or something like that.

But I guess you might as well make it multitask as a sword breaker! :D

The Extrema Ratios I handled at Blade seemed to be well made. Their "exotic" looks can be either very appealing or off-putting. Most of their folder are N690 which is manufactured by Bohler Uddeholm (German company) and is their trade name for their version of 440C. While 440C isn't considered to be a "supersteel" anymore, when properly heat treated it still makes excellent knife blades.

Eggman240 will have to let us know how it works for him.

OOOH... Nice Nemesis... That was on my short list as well.

Oh well, there's always Xmas. Maybe I can get the wife to spring for one. :)

I am honestly very surprised Dark Ops didn't market it as such... :)

I can see how some of their designs can be off-putting, but I've always though Extrema Ratio made some cool, quality blades. I dig their Rao folder. (blade shape is real weird, but it grows on you)
