I have used alot of Leupolds over the years, even used a few of the Weavers, the ones made in Japan, bought a couple of guns with cheap glass, which I tossed. I have used both 30mm and 1" and don't have a preference either way.

I have a new Model 7 in 300 WSM that I want new glass for.

I am thinking about Kahles Swarovski or Zeiss, is one really that much better than the other? I am leaning towards a Zeiss 2.5 - 10 x 50mm, but wanted some input on them before I spend that kind of money on a scope.

Thanks

Boy, just wait for the verbal abuse smacking you down for being so stupid as to get really good glass. After all, BSA and Swift are just as good...

Now that we have that out of the way, you might try the Bargain Cave at Cabelas if you have one close. Ours had a really nice 6x24x50 Swarovski a few weeks ago. It was marked down by $500. I REALLY wanted it for one of my varmint rifles but I'm just not at the point that I could swing it. They also had a Swarovski in maybe 3x9 or 2.5x10 that would be perfect for what you want.

I've not used any of those in the field. I would suspect that, for a hunting rifle, there wouldn't be a lot of difference. I have a friend that uses Leo's and Swarovski on PD hunts. After looking thru the scope for long periods, there is a difference.

If you can afford a Swarovski or Zeiss VM/V go for it they are great. If you are spending that kind of money look into Schmidt & Bender and US Optics also. Any of the top tier optics bands are awesome. If you don't want to spend that kind of money but still want good excellent glass then Kahls and Zeiss Conquest are a great choice. IOR makes a great scope also.
